Partners with supervisors to effectively handle and address routine and complex employee relations matters and violations including, but not limited to: absenteeism, unsatisfactory job performance, probationary period issues, departmental reorganizations and layoffs to cultivate a fair and just culture; refers issues to the Director, Employee Relations as needed; interprets and explains human resources policies, procedures and progressive disciplinary steps to supervisors and employees; consults with supervisors on preparing routine and complex employee relations related correspondence such as: documenting verbal warnings, preparing written disciplinary letters and meeting with employees individually or in groups to address employee relations issues, to include in person and virtual meetings, and traveling to various offices in the greater Mobile and Baldwin counties and Mississippi counties; follow up with supervisors on employees with performance deficiencies; administers grievance procedures; provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, and policies and procedures; tracks and processes unemployment insurance claims; directs development of staffing strategies; represents USA Health in unemployment hearings; assists in conducting personnel related investigations in conjunction with the Director, Employee Relations to include interviewing employees, researching and collecting data, preparing reports of findings using Microsoft Word and Excel, and making recommendations to the Director, Employee Relations and/or the appropriate administrator; researches and assists in the development and writing of human resources policies and procedures including, but not limited to, preparing content for handbooks, memos, and the HR website; assists with developing, facilitating and tracking employee training programs related to employee relations and policies and procedures compliance; schedules and conducts exit interviews as needed; utilizes the Banner HR/Payroll System, iCIMS and Kronos to access employee or applicant data and extract reports in Excel; regular and prompt attendance; ability to perform the required duties and work the schedule as defined; overtime as needed; other related duties.
Bachelor’s degree in business, human resources or related field from an accredited institution as approved and accepted by the University of South Alabama and one year of human resources and/or employee relations experience.
