Structural Engineering Principal in Charge - Ownership in Growing Boutique Structural Engineering Firm with Passion for Mass Timber, Design, & Sustainability - San Jose

Acumen is pleased to partner with DAEDALUS - a boutique structural engineering firm with a sustainability focus to hire their next Principal in Charge (PIC) to support their rapid growth. DAEDALUS partners with Best-In-Class architects on projects ranging from custom residential designs of $35M homes of the highest profile Bay Area residents to stunning 12-story mass timber towers to destination wineries in Napa and Sonoma to the Presidio Visitor’s Center to unique structures on the Carmel Coast and in Hawaii.

No two projects are the same for DAEDALUS, from community centers with living roof supported by mass timber framing, historic university buildings that are seismically retrofitted while maintaining the original aesthetic, and residential structures that challenge with cantilevered rooms and designs that orient to breathtaking views.

If you:

• Have 8 years of relevant experience, including residential and commercial projects.
• Have a California Structural Engineer (SE) license (or the ability to obtain licensure through a reciprocal license program or testing).

Compensation: DAEDALUS is looking to add a proven leader to their team with a generous compensation package and an ownership stake in the organization. Annual compensation includes performance bonus and ownership equity stake of 10-25% with fast-track vesting and associated profit sharing.

Generous benefits include fully paid Healthcare for Employee, 401k, an additional week off during the holidays, flex time, and the option to work remotely 2 days a week.

Location: San Jose, CA. working at least 3 days a week in office.

Responsibilities will include:

• Build, lead, and develop teams.
  • Lead the ongoing training, development, and education of Project Managers and Engineers.
  • Foster an environment of collaboration, teamwork, and excellence.
  • Lead Staff Accountability Meetings / Review Utilization Reporting.
  • Actively recruit top talent in accordance with the agreed-upon hiring plan.
  • Lead in the hiring of all Project Managers and Engineer roles.
  • Ensure proper onboarding of all PROJECT MANAGERS and Engineer new hires.
• Projects
  • Determine all project staff assignments.
  • Inspire cutting-edge innovation in all Daedalus projects.
  • Ensure flawless execution of all Daedalus projects.
  • Ensure efficient and effective project communication.
• Finance/Strategy
  • Review monthly business review reporting.
  • Participate in annual and quarterly reviews and planning with CEO & Business Ops.
  • Review, address challenges, and sign off on Project Managers' monthly invoicing and Project Projections.
  • Review and address challenges with Project Managers and Engineer utilization monthly.
• Marketing/Customer Service
  • Prepare Client Proposals with the support of Project Managers.
  • Build rapport with current clients via calls, emails, lunches, etc.
  • Prepare Client Presentations.
  • Update prospective project projections for target clients.
  • Attend conferences and targeted networking events.
  • Identify and reach out to target clients as time allows.
