Top Environmental Executive plans and directs all aspects of an organization's environmental management activities. Develops strategy for complying with environmental regulations and minimizing the organization's impact on air, land and water quality. Being a Top Environmental Executive identifies environmental issues that may affect the organization or its employees and develops plans for corrective actions. May represent the organization at various government and industry-wide meetings. Additionally, Top Environmental Executive requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a top management. The Top Environmental Executive manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Top Environmental Executive typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. Four years of experience in technician work in aeronautical, chemical, civil, electrical, environmental, mechanical, or sanitary engineering technology; environmental technology; geology or geology technology; or as a surveyor or a drafter;
OR
graduation from high school and one year of qualifying experience;
OR
graduation from a high school technical education program in aeronautics, architectural drafting, chemistry, electricity, electronics, mechanical design and construction, technical structural drafting and design, technical instrumentation and control systems, or computer circuitry;
OR
18 college semester credit hours in any combination of the following: engineering, geology, environmental science, natural or physical science, drafting, mathematics, or surveying.
The incumbent will be responsible for performing detailed site inspections to evaluate existing conditions, and compliance with the Mined Land Reclamation Law and regulations, approved plans and permit conditions; issuing inspection letters and Notices of Violation; assessing reclamation work, including grading, revegetation, water control features, etc., at mine sites to ensure compliance with approved plans, and to approve reclamation work or require remedial actions where appropriate; investigating mining complaints, including but not limited to, mining outside approved areas at permitted sites, dust, noise, etc.; and calculating reclamation financial security amounts to ensure the performance of reclamation
Must have a valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain Must be able to work in remote areas. Must be able to work in adverse weather conditions. Travel may be required. Overnight travel may be required. Telecommuting may be available, will be discussed at interview.
This is a hourly appointment currently funded through 3/31/2024, with a likelihood of continuing beyond that date. Program needs and funding will determine actual termination date. Actual work schedule, duties and travel requirements may vary and will be discussed at the interview.
