  • I.    General Summary: 
    Responsible for consulting with all TBA facilities to provide guidance, instruct, develop policies, support (both remote and/or on-site as needed) and manage the Environmental permitting and compliance functions of TBA Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS). Responsible for Standard Tasks, Plant Audit/Support Activity, Hoshin Kanri Objectives, and Reoccurring Functions.

    II.    Essential Job Functions:
    A.    Create monthly environmental Key Performance Indicator (KPI) reports (e.g. compliance, energy, waste, and water).
    B.    Function as a resource to plants in planning and implementing best practices in environmental program and waste reduction opportunities.
    C.    Assist plants on periodic environmental permit application activities (air, water and waste).
    D.    Develop, implement, train, review, and update environmental programs, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations (Storm Water Permits, Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPP), Wastewater Permits, Spill Prevention, Pollution and Countermeasure Plans, (SPCC), Air Emission Surveys and Calculations, Air Permitting and weekly, monthly and annual reporting, RCRA/Hazardous Waste, DOT, etc.).
    E.    Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) Phase I and II reviews.
    F.    Calculation of retention pond size and construction.
    G.    Water protection strategies for new sites.
    H.    Develop and maintain data for EPCRA 312 Chemical Inventory (SARA Title III - Tier II and Toxic Release Inventory TRI/Form R) reporting and prepare annual reports.
    I.    Support plants in achieving and maintaining ISO14001 certification.
    J.    Support annual environmental compliance audits.
    K.    Comply with all regulations set by the Federal & State EPA/DOT and Local Governmental requirements and regulations.
    L.    Conduct internal audits to ensure company compliance with all company environmental policies and procedures.
    M.    Drive Energy (CO2), Water and Waste Energy Projects, develop environmental action plans and countermeasures and report out on KPI matrix’s.
    N.    Assist implementation or champion execution of environmental management programs (ISO14001:2015) and audits as requested or required by interested parties.
    O.    Coordinate the work of outside contractors and consultants to support creation of permit applications and process performance testing, as needed.
    P.    Assist in engineering new processes and devices to meet or exceed environmental regulations.
    Q.    Provide environmental compliance and ISO14001 training.
    R.    Develop and maintain data for EPCRA 312 Chemical Inventory (SARA Title III - Tier II and Toxic Release Inventory TRI/Form R) reporting and prepare annual reports.
    S.    Identify and inform management of compliance issues and improvement opportunities. 
    T.    Conduct annual environmental compliance training. 
    U.    Conduct training and coaching for management and team members on environmental issues pertaining to their specific position and job duties in support of appropriate laws utilizing TBA PE training materials.
    V.    Assist with quarterly energy audits to achieve annual energy reduction objections. 
    W.    Develop/complete annual departmental business planning objectives and all assigned special projects, as required.
    X.    Draft environmental policy and procedures for management review and approval.
    Y.    Follow safety, quality, confidentiality, and information security policies and procedures.

    III.    Minimum Qualifications/Requirements: 

    Education: 
    •    Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering (or related degree) preferred, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
    •    ISO14001/TS16949 Lead Auditor Certification, (preferred)
    •    CSP or CHMM certification preferred.

    Experience:
    •    Greater than four (4) years of relevant experience and academic preparation.
    •    Experience in manufacturing and/or the automotive industry preferred.
    •    Environmental compliance experience or coursework.
    •    Environmental permitting including air permits preferred.
    •    ISO14001 System Implementation and Management experience preferred.

    Personal/Technical Skills:
    •    General manufacturing and industrial equipment knowledge required.
    •    2-5 years Environmental Compliance, ISO14001 and Energy (CO2), Waste and Water Reduction experience.
    •    General understanding and working knowledge of basic engineering principles.
    •    Knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Mississippi).
    •    Strong organization and planning skills.
    •    Ability to communicate and work well with all levels of the organization.
    •    Ability to compile effective and concise visual reports.
    •    Effective presentation and writing skills.
    •    Knowledgeable of energy engineering and landfill reduction strategies.
    •    Ability to multitask and facilitate problem solving & resolution.
    •    Ability to work in a team environment.
    •    Effective time management skills and responsivity to shifting priorities.
    •    Ability to perform responsibilities with minimal supervision.

    Language Skills:
    •    Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
    •    Spanish or Portuguese is beneficial.

    Computer/Software:
    •    Solid working knowledge and demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office and other computer-based applications (e.g., MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.).

    IV.    Work Environment/Conditions:

    Office:  Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.

    Plant:  Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level.  PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas.  Personal attire standards may apply.

    Travel:  Must be willing to travel up to 40% of the time.  Travel may be required to all manufacturing plants within TB including U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, and Argentina, as well as other Toyota Boshoku global facilities. Passport will be required.  

    V.    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear.  The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing for extended periods of time and is occasionally required to lift up to 33 pounds.
