SUMMARY: The Career Exploration Coordinator will perform a variety of duties overseeing the programmatic daily operations, including supervising the Youth Support Specialists, targeting youth ages 14-25 years old. Foster relationships between the young people, medical care community organizations, workforce readiness agencies, employers, behavioral health providers, and public agencies in providing career exploration & workforce development opportunities for the youth of Springfield.

QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. At least two - 5 years’ experience working in human service field and have knowledge of community, social, health resources, computer skilled, documentation skills, and communication skills a must. Experience working with women, their families, professionals, and the community. Must be able to work with a diverse population. Must have a valid Massachusetts Driver's License
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s Degree and Certified Alcohol/Addiction Counselor preferred. Understand and apply principles, methods, procedures, and strategies utilized in the development of a comprehensive program designed to reduce and/or prevent problems associated with youth violence such as drug, alcohol, tobacco use, gang involvement, teen pregnancy, HIV/STI’s, mental illness and unintentional injury prevention. Work collaboratively on law enforcement, health care and social service teams.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) and Bi-Cultural preferred. Great communication and teamwork skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers, parents and employees of organization.
REASONING ABILITY:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
MENTAL/VISUAL DEMANDS:
