Introduction

This job description outlines the requirements, reporting relationships, authority, responsibilities, duties, and measurements of performance for the position of CDL Driver for Four Corners Welding & Gas Supply.

Summary/ Objective

The CDL truck driver is expected to work as a valued member of the shipping and receiving operations. This job will primarily consist of local vehicle operation and bulk delivery operations involving positioning, moving, loading and unloading the truck. 

Essential Job Functions

1. Operate company-owned trucks to facilitate shipping and receiving operations.
2. Operate trucks for delivery, pickup and relocation of products and materials
3. Perform required before, during, after operation maintenance and inspections and provide required reports.
4. Provide outstanding customer service during delivery and pickup operations.
5. Operate all material handling equipment (MHE).
6. Maintain all required certification required by DOT and OSHA and company safety programs
7. Maintains adherence to all company policies and procedures.
8. Performs any other duties assigned by management.
9. Adhere to all company safety policies and procedures
10. The ability to frequently lift and/or move items over 50 pounds.
11. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Duties and responsibilities

• Delivering cylinders, liquid vessels, and merchandise to customers intown and out of town including the bulk delivery.
• Knowledgeable in cylinder safety and handling procedures
• Loading and unloading of truck including inspecting truck and cylinder loads
• Cleaning inside and outside of truck in keep it in excellent conditions.
• Assisting with pumping oxygen and CO2 cylinders and transfilling other cylinders
• Maintains a complete and accurate shipping manifest.
• Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications.
• Avoids legal challenges by complying with federal, state and local legal requirements.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by management.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Ability to lift 50lbs or more during the loading and unloading of cylinders for delivery. The ability to utilize dollies to move VGL containers in a safe and efficient manner.

Position type/ Expected hours of work

This is a full-time position and hours of work vary due to weekly schedule and days are Monday through Friday. Weekend work may be required as schedule demands.

Work Environment

This job is performed in outside weather conditions including hot and cold weather temperatures.

Travel

Travel is primarily local during the business days although some out of state may be expected.

Required Education and Experience 

Required:              High school or equivalent

Required:              A Current CDL License

Required:              A Medical Examiner Certification

Preferred:              A hazmat certification

Experience:           A minimum of 1 year as a truck driver experience. (Preferred)
