Technician Electrical - Level 3 (Rotational Schedule) Prudhoe Bay, AK

  • This is a remote/ rotational position, working two weeks on and two weeks off or three weeks on and three weeks off, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.

    Job Purpose:

    Installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems, equipment, wiring and controls in a petrochemical facility. 

    Essential Job Functions:

    • Responsible for maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation and construction of industrial electrical equipment and systems found in an industrial or commercial environment through the proper use of standard wire, conduit, fittings, and hardware commonly found in industrial plants.
    • Reads and understands conduit drawings, schematics, drawings, and specifications.
    • Responsible for use and care of the tools and equipment commonly employed in industrial construction such as hydraulic/electric benders, knockout punch sets, cable puller, meggers, hi-pot equipment, volt meters, multi-testers, and ammeters.
    • Able to set and coordinate overcurrent protective devices, size feeder circuits and work on systems up to and including 13.8 kV.
    • Must be able to follow all company, client, safety, and regulatory requirements, including, but not limited to, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines as they relate to this position and the work duties being performed.
    • Bend, cut, thread, and install conduit.
    • Install and terminate wiring.
    • Check out and troubleshoot simple electric circuits and electrical devices and machinery.
    • Accountable for testing, troubleshooting, setting and calibrating power distribution systems, while working with protective relaying and motor control circuits.
    • Routinely operate Worley/client light and/or medium duty vehicles.
    • Safely climb ladders of various heights. 

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

    • Possesses current knowledge of Journeyman Electrician, have Physical Fitness Card and an understanding of organizational practices.
    • Basic understanding of electrical circuits including the operation and function of typical electrical devices and machinery such as solenoids, relays, motors, transformers, switches, motor control centers, generators, batteries, and lighting systems.
    • Possess an excellent knowledge of the National Electric Code.
    • Adequate written and oral communications applicable to standards set by organization.
    • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
    • Proficient in NFPA70E.

    • Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, reach through low and high ranges, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.
    • Must stand throughout evaluation.
    • Aerobic capacity evaluation via 3 Minute step test.
    • Sit and reach and range of motion evaluations.
    • Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.
    • Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.
    • Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.
    • Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.
    • Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.
    • Kneel 60 seconds, stand, kneel 60 seconds, stand.
    • Squat 60 seconds.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • Current and valid Alaska State Fitness Certificate as a Journeyman Electrician.
    • Two (2) years of industrial electrical preventive maintenance experience.
    • Valid driver’s license including ability to be insured by Worley’s auto insurer.
    • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
    • North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC). Worley can provide NSTC certification training, if needed. 

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Six (6) years’ experience as an electrician, including three (3) years in industrial electrical work or in relevant field.
    • North Slope experience with demonstrated knowledge of facilities, safety processes and maintenance procedures.
    • Experience with UPS systems troubleshooting and maintenance.
    • Experience with battery systems maintenance, PMs and change outs.
