Develops plans, policies, and teams to build relationships and liaise with government entities (federal, state, provincial, or local) that regulate or influence business activities. Being a Top Government Affairs Executive (State Level) directs ongoing monitoring and analysis of proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends to determine the potential impact on the organization. Collaborates with industry groups and organizations with complementary objectives to achieve objectives. Additionally, Top Government Affairs Executive (State Level) creates communication vehicles and delivers messaging to inform and support business leaders. Requires a bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, business or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Top Government Affairs Executive (State Level) manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives.     Duties

    • Creates, writes and distributes a wide variety of materials to communicate information about BLM issues, programs and activities to key publics.
    • Maintains current knowledge of all Departmental and Bureau policy and program direction related to public land management and develops communications policy for implementation by the office and its subordinate echelons.
    • Develops and maintains professional, proactive, credible relationships with media outlets, including traditional and new media outlets.
    • Employs new and established communications research and planning principles to develop both strategic and crisis communications plans.
