Top Government Affairs Executive (State Level) contributes to strategic planning and directs engagement objectives to develop and maintain productive relations with all levels of government authorities that will support and enhance the businesses' goals. Develops plans, policies, and teams to build relationships and liaise with government entities (federal, state, provincial, or local) that regulate or influence business activities. Being a Top Government Affairs Executive (State Level) directs ongoing monitoring and analysis of proposed legislation, emerging issues, and trends to determine the potential impact on the organization. Collaborates with industry groups and organizations with complementary objectives to achieve objectives. Additionally, Top Government Affairs Executive (State Level) creates communication vehicles and delivers messaging to inform and support business leaders. Requires a bachelor's degree in public policy, public administration, business or equivalent. Typically reports to top management. The Top Government Affairs Executive (State Level) manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Top Government Affairs Executive (State Level) typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     OVERVIEW

    Perform a wide variety of audit functions specific to government clients. Frequent same-day travel, and occasional out-of-town travel for work at clients’ offices. Be flexible to meet the needs of clients and firm. Seasonal overtime is required.

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Preparation of audited financial statements
    • Perform all audit functions and tests as prescribed in applicable audit programs
    • Identify accounting, compliance, and reporting issues
    • Maintain a working knowledge of all current auditing laws and statutes, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, auditing standards, and standards unique to government entities
    • Participate in CDS’s Governmental Accounting & Auditing Committee
    • Conduct research related to client work and internal projects  
    • Provide timely, high quality client service
    • Managing client expectations and assisting clients with their audit and other related questions
    • Attend Continuing Professional Education to develop your interpersonal skills and professional expertise
    • Encompass the CDS core values: integrity, quality, collaboration, innovation, and kindness
    • Develop and maintain client relationships
    • Perform other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Accounting degree or educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam required
    • Well-rounded knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards
    • Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
    • Effective, timely, and professional communication skills
    • Flexible team player who is also able to work independently
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality required
    • Desire to continue to develop and enhance skills
    • Exceptional time management skills with an ability to organize and prioritize projects, and meet deadlines
