The Behavior Specialist provides clinically oriented behavior support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and/or mental health diagnosis. The Behavior Specialist will work closely with our clinical, programmatic, residential and day support staff to develop holistic behavioral treatment plans that consider thoughts, feelings and behaviors of our participants within an interpersonal and systematic context. This systemic approach requires participation on a multidisciplinary team and the training of staff, families and caretakers.
Salary: $55,000-$62,000
Responsibilities/Duties:
- Develops and/or maintains all behavior documentation including but not limited to; Functional Behavior Assessments, Behavior Support Plans, Restrictive Behavior Support Plans, Monthly Summaries, and Progress Notes, etc.
- Data collection and Analysis.
- Conduct comprehensive functional assessments of presenting concerns.
- Collaborate with consumer, family, and residential, operational, and clinical staff for the purposes of developing a clinically oriented behavioral support plan, based on the functional assessment. ·
- Conduct trainings related to implementation of behavioral support and crisis intervention plans for the consumer, family members, and staff. ·
- Conduct ongoing assessments to assess attainment of outcomes; communicate results to team members and adjust the plan as indicated. ·
- Work closely with members of the administrative and clinical team members regarding the plan’s development and implementation.
- Provide support of the clinical philosophy, and maintenance of a safe and therapeutic environment for the resident, staff and overall community.
- Collaborate with inter-disciplinary team members involved in individuals’ focused support services relative to opportunity and community living.
- Provide emergency consultation in crisis situations. ·
- Attend and actively participate in team, clinical and outside meetings and supervision as directed
Required Experience:
- 3 years of related experience
Required Education:
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's preferred.
Required Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Products and Applications.
- Subject to employment screenings, including FBI clearance, if applicable.
- Valid driver’s license and personal vehicle required.
