    BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION:


    The Manager of Human Resources reports to the Assistant General Counsel and supports all elements of HR. This position is a trusted member of the Company providing oversight of 6 HR, records, and administrations professionals. The Manager of Human Resources operates as a critical business partner to the Company leadership.


    This role will require an analytical, practical, and collaborative HR practitioner who uses creative and innovative thinking to resolve sophisticated business and HR challenges. The ideal candidate isn’t afraid to take appropriate risks and should have a track record of leading as a change agent, assessing current situations, anticipating challenges, and providing solutions that make valuable contributions and promote a culture of change and HR leadership. 


    Key areas of responsibility include setting direction and driving strategy around talent management (development and acquisition), employee experience and organizational development work to support and enable the business. Demonstrated ability in applying data analytics to drive HR decision and strategy is required. 


      

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Set the HR agenda by developing a solid understanding of the company culture, business goals and strategies, and establishing and driving organizational initiatives in support of those strategies
    • Define a roadmap for the HR team for staffing, compensation, diversity & inclusion, and other HR processes in support of business clients
    • Lead and manage the HR team to ensure quality, innovation, flexibility, and excellent client service
    • Coach and develop our HR team members
    • Partner with Company leaders to anticipate and adjust talent and/or compensation strategy as needed
    • Provide high-quality coaching to optimize the employee experience 
    • Drive performance management throughout the year by coaching leadership on goal setting and feedback; as well as appropriate handling of any performance issues
    • Establish strong relationships and operate as a trusted business advisor to understand issues/concerns at all levels of the organization and influence outcomes/results
    • Use strong business sense and data analytics to drive HR priorities, objectives and actions
    • Use proven “best practices” to help streamline HR processes and improve client experiences.
    • Gather, synthesize and analyze quantitative and qualitative data in support of both long-term strategy as well as short term ‘game plan’ to improve efficiency and return on investment.

    Requirements

      

    POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree in HR or related field
    • A minimum of 10 years’ experience with traditional HR manager duties (Compliance, Benefits, Payroll, Employee Relations, Investigations/Legal considerations, etc.)
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Proficiency in MS Excel – ability to manipulate data with solid knowledge of formulas & pivot tables 
    • Ability to adapt & respond effectively to a rapid and complex changing work environment
    • Proven effective advising skills, with an ability to influence in all directions and at all levels
    • Excellent organizational and social skills refined for client interaction
    • Being an enthusiastic teammate with a strong drive to create a positive work environment
    • Demonstrated experience applying independent judgment on employee relations issues and working closely and effectively with leadership at different levels of the organization
    • Employee relations experience as an HR professional supporting operations or corporate functions
    • A strong professional presence, communication skills and the ability to build rapport with candidates, employees and all levels of management.
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and handle conflicting priorities with ease.
    • Must be able to handle sensitive and confidential information and situations on a consistent basis.
    • Must understand the big picture of general business practices and basic management principles. A knowledge of and desire to develop additional awareness of the oil and gas industry in general and the exploration and production sector specifically are essential.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Master’s degree in HR or related field
    • SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification


    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


    Visual and manual dexterity is extremely important for this position. The job presents normal hazards that are present in an office environment. Incumbent will be subject to performing sedentary to light work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, or constantly lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, reach overhead for items, stoop, bend, and twist while working. Other physical activities include ability to utilize fingers to feel and grasp objects or work devices as needed and manual dexterity in the use of the hands, seeing, talking, hearing, performing repetitive motions and standing for long periods of time at the copier or fax machine. The incumbent must be able to travel by car or o other work sites when needed.
