  • SUMMARY:

    The HR Assistant/ Recruiter duties involve a wide range of support activities inside our HR department, from coordinating meetings to maintaining our employee database to posting job ads, creating staffing strategies, and completing new staff onboarding. An important part of your role will be to act as the liaison between HR and employees, ensuring smooth communication and prompt resolution of requests and questions. You’ll also assist in creating policies, processes, and documents.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (include the following. Other duties may be assigned)

    • Assist with day-to-day operations of the HR functions and duties
    • Provide clerical and administrative support to Human Resources and Organization executives
    • Demonstrates courtesy and politeness in dealing with clients, families, staff members, and contractors.
    • Compile and update employee records (hard and soft copies)
    • Process documentation and prepare reports relating to personnel activities (staffing, recruitment, training, grievances, performance evaluations, etc)
    • Responsible for contacting Home Care Aides and maintaining Home Care Aide compliance with requirements of current automobile insurance, driver’s license, PPD, and/or other essential responsibilities of the Home Care Aide position. Also in conjunction with this essential duty or expectation to either take off schedule or not schedule Home Care Aides who are out of compliance with VNA expected essential requirements
    • Coordinate HR functions (meetings, training, surveys, etc) and take minutes
    • Deal with employee requests regarding human resources issues, rules, and regulations
    • Properly handle complaints and grievance procedures
    • Screens resumes and selects qualified candidates.
    • Performing reference checks
    • Making recommendations to company Leadership and/or management staff & HR Manager
    • Schedule and follow up on the interview process status
    • Maintaining relationships with both internal and external clients to ensure staffing goals
    • Communicating employer information and benefits during the screening process.
    • Oversees orientation and onboarding of new employees
    • Completes MA Fraud and Docket checks before employment
    • Create a Human Resource folder for all new staff
    • Staying current on the company’s organization structure, personnel policy, and federal and state laws regarding employment practices
    • Serving as a liaison with area employment agencies, colleges, and industry associations
    • Attends and participates in college job fairs, career fairs, and recruiting sessions as needed.
    • Maintains active use and personal proficiency with computer and software programs specific to office communication and agency program management
    • Maintains confidentiality in dealing with customers, vendors, clients, and patients. Complies with HIPAA regulations and agency policies related to HIPAA compliance.
    • Acts as a backup to the Home Care Aide Scheduling services to ensure the health and safety of the clients and to meet contract requirement
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Associate’s Degree in human resources or related field required, with one year of experience in recruiting, bachelor preferred.
    • Experience in the Human Resources department employee files and background checks.
    • Fast computer typing skills
    • Hands-on experience with an HRIS or HRMS
    • Familiarity with Indeed and other recruiting software
    • Basic knowledge of labor laws
    • Excellent organizational skills
    • Strong communications skills
