    Title: Labor Relations Coordinator

    About AGC of Michigan:

    The Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Michigan is a full-service construction trade association providing services to Michigan's leading construction companies across the entire state of Michigan. Services include Labor Relations, Safety, Workforce Development, Education, Advocacy, Communications, and Networking. AGC is the voice of the construction industry and construction builds America.

    Key Functions of the Labor Relations Department:

    • Provides labor relations support to our construction company members who signed at least one of our 30 collective bargaining agreements.
    • Sit across the table from the various union representatives while engaging in collective bargaining negotiations.
    • Advise members on how to appropriately handle grievances, construction work jurisdictional disputes, and union strikes.
    • Oversee the operation of jointly managed Taft-Hartley multiemployer benefit funds.
    • Creates data related to union wages and fringes, collective bargaining, and construction industry statistics.
    • Build relationships with contractors and union representatives as we partner in the construction industry.

    Key Responsibilities of the Labor Relations Coordinator:

    • Calculate, review, and create all forty union wage sheets each year.
    • Organize and maintain records for the negotiation of all 30 collective bargaining agreements.
    • Assist collective bargaining committees with negotiations through research and data preparation.
    • Update collective bargaining agreements with newly negotiated language and wage-related updates, while cooperating with several union representatives.
    • Provide support services to all members including contract language clarification, wage related assistance, and other specific members requests as needed.
    • Create and proofread communications including reports, e-mail distributions, and meeting minutes.
    • Provide support to the Labor Relations Director and the Labor Relations Specialist.
    • This position will provide the opportunity to learn a great deal about labor relations in the union construction industry.

    Recommended Qualifications

    • Proficient in mathematics and analyzing data, with an emphasis on accuracy and conscientiousness.
    • Extraordinarily organized – ability to track multiple projects at a given time while reporting status updates.
    • Excellent written communication skills, proofreading, and advanced Microsoft Word formatting skills.
    • Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to communicate well with others.
    • Shares innovative ideas and articulates thoughts succinctly.
    • Highly developed critical thinking skills.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
    • Experience with Payroll, the construction industry, and Microsoft Publisher are all considered a plus.
