Establishes and approves operating policies and procedures to guide the design of projects. Being a Top Laboratory Executive estimates the time and resources needed to complete projects. Orders and inspects materials and equipment and maintains detailed and accurate inventory of lab supplies. Additionally, Top Laboratory Executive manages costs by maintaining vendor relationships and implementing process improvements. Typically responsible for acquiring funding. Requires a master's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Top Laboratory Executive manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Top Laboratory Executive typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function. Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:30 PM
Location:
PSC/Columbia Basin Health Association off of S Columbia Ave.
Essential Job Functions:
Administrative duties including providing excellent customer service to all patients, clients and employees.
Answer phones in a timely manner following company standards on proper phone etiquette.
Assist in operating complex automated laboratory equipment, electronic equipment, computer software, and precision instruments. Provide trouble-shooting on such instruments as far as possible.
Accurately process samples in timely manner to ensure Interpath meets established routine and Stat turnaround times.
Follow established daily checklist to ensure all tasks performed on schedule.Assist MT's and MLT's in performing the full range of laboratory tests provided by Interpath Laboratory— Blood Banking, Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, Microbiology, Urinalysis and Coagulation.
Receive samples from clients and other Interpath sites.
Maintain specimen integrity from collection point and up to point transferred to technical staff.
Accurately translate physician orders and diagnoses.
Print and distribute reports.
Follow established safety protocols.
Participate in some aspects of proficiency testing.
Understand and adhere to HIPAA policies, procedures and regulations to assure patient confidentiality.
Understand and practice Medicare rules regarding ABN's.
Actively participate in departmental quality assurance monitors.
Follow all established I.Q. protocols.
Participate in scheduling by coverage of varied shifts and sites.
Perform other work related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
High School graduate or equivalent
Licensure/Certification:
WA state Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist certification
Skills:
Attention to detail; works well without supervision; communication and customer service

General Physical Requirements:
Laboratory setting includes numerous automated machines that make humming and beeping sounds.
High level of staff activity and interaction in relatively close proximity.Must be able to hear in order to monitor alarms and respond to any safety hazards in a timely manner.
Regularly exposed to infection by handling potentially infectious samples.
Wearing appropriate protective gear:
Lab coat, gloves, goggles, and face shield.
Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, crawl, bend and twist as needed.
Requires walking on non-level surfaces, inside and outside the office, throughout the day.
Frequent bending and stooping.
Typically stands for extended period of times.
Ability to work long hours, and overtime, as needed.
Lifting up to 30 pounds.

This position performs tasks that involve exposure to blood, body fluids, and/or tissues. All employees performing these duties are offered the opportunity to receive the Hepatitis-B vaccination series.
