IA Learning, Development, and Engagement Director

  • The IA Learning, Development, and Engagement Director manages multiple teams through other managers. In-depth understanding of how IA contributes to achieving the objectives of the function. A good understanding of the industry, direct competitors' products and services, is also necessary in order to contribute to the objectives of the business. Requires thorough understanding of strategic direction of IA, combined with a solid conceptual/practical grounding in both IA and/or risk and controls and related subject areas. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level.

    This role provides the Internal Audit organization with strategic direction, oversight and delivery of the learning and development, communications, and engagement processes across the global audit team. The IA Learning, Development, and Engagement Director is responsible for developing and delivering learning, communications, and engagement strategies that are aligned with the overall IA business objectives. Working closely with senior IA leaders, this role is responsible for overseeing the skills assessment process, developing a learning curriculum, and delivering against this program to support the global department. This role is also responsible for liaising with various Human Resources and Communications teams across Citi.

    This role is a key member of the IA Chief Operating Office and works closely with key partners across Citi to ensure the audit department is able to deliver against IAs purpose and is sufficiently skilled to provide value-add assurance to the firm.


    Responsibilities:

    • Is responsible for end to end learning and communication processes for Global IA
    • Works closely with IA Leadership to develop and implement a learning and development strategy that supports delivery of high quality audit work and assurance outcomes
    • Establishes strategies and solutions that are directly linked to organizational goals by building and maintaining strong partnerships to drive performance improvement and behavior change
    • Develops and oversees a streamlined and insightful process to assess the existence and proficiency of skills necessary to support achieving IA objectives, completing the annual audit plan, and meeting regulatory and IIA requirements; identifies gaps in skills and develops corrective actions to address
    • Leads the analysis of current versus future state gaps, identifies root causes, determines the appropriate solution and how success should be measured
    • Develops the strategy for consistently measuring the effectiveness of new joiner, recurring, and targeted trainings
    • Understands IA and HR priorities/needs and identifies key opportunities for performance improvement and cultural development to maximize overall impact across IA
    • Leads and oversees a team of professionals responsible for developing and delivering trainings for the global IA team on various mediums (e.g. virtual/live; module-based); delivers trainings with a primary focus on risk/control and audit fundamental concepts
    • Supports information and knowledge sharing forums across the IA department
    • Regularly engages and collaborates with HR / Business partners and navigates any variation in expectations with them; supports firm-wide change initiatives and campaigns within IA
    • Stays abreast of regulatory and QA feedback, industry expectations, and external market trends to anticipate their impact on future capability and learning requirements for IA
    • Leads and oversees a team that develops, drives, and delivers the communications and engagement strategy for the global organization, including leadership remarks, internal announcements, broader employee and digital communication programs; oversees IA onboarding and Analyst programs
    • Creates engaging content across a variety of formats including speeches, presentations, keynote addresses, video scripts, written communications to employees and external stakeholders, social media and panel remarks
    • Supports strategic IA initiatives and change management processes; works closely with the communications function and business leadership to assist with strategic initiatives ensuring effective communication and consistent messaging to all levels of the organization

    Qualifications/Education:

    • BA/BS or equivalent
    • Risk/control and/or audit background is required
    • Strong experience in a related role with extensive experience in business, functional and people management, with proven abilities in taking responsibility for executing concurrently on a portfolio of high quality deliverables according to strict timetables
    • Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views. This individual must be an articulate and effective communicator, both orally and in writing, with an energetic, charismatic and approachable style
    • Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of internal audit and senior management and self-confidence to drive decisions across the various IA teams
    • Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in managing teams and making a positive impact on the organization. Proven track record in managing virtual and remote teams is a requirement
