The Justice Center is seeking candidates who are task oriented with great attention to detail. The position calls for staff to be able to work independently with time sensitive tasks and be able to switch between tasks as necessary. The candidate must also be able to work in a busy, open office environment.
We are seeking individuals with a working knowledge of computer programs/systems including: Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams, SharePoint), Adobe Pro, and Email (Outlook). The position also requires the ability to quickly learn and utilize the Justice Center database program. The candidate will be responsible for performing clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, arranging conference calls and scheduling meetings. Knowledge of office administration and management; proper grammar, punctuation and spelling; business communications and ability to take notes is necessary. Other duties may require the proper handling of confidential information and the import/export of information from Justice Center databases.
Job duties require creating administrative Vulnerable Persons Central Register (VPCR) files by uploading appeal documentation, updating contact information and offense rows in the VPCR. The candidate will review appeals cases, review evidence, ask questions, review previous decisions, draft legal memos with findings for review. The candidate will also upload memos and mark activities accordingly, prioritize work and manage deadlines, and maintain metrics for job performance. Additionally, the candidate will monitor completed De Novo review folders, draft letters to subjects, providers and others as needed regarding the outcome of the De Novo review, and update contacts documentation and other fields in the VPCR then move the VPCR case to the Administrative Litigation Unit (ALU) or close it. The candidate will monitor the De Novo email inbox
for appeals and questions and will forward or respond to such emails as appropriate. The candidate will communicate daily with
attorneys regarding assignments and their completion and will attend meetings in person and over WebEx. Additionally, the
candidate will provide coverage for phone lines as needed and will perform other duties and projects as needed/assigned.
