Top Legal Executive plans and directs all aspects of an organization's legal affairs. Ensures all business policies and activities are managed correctly and in compliance with current laws. Being a Top Legal Executive provides strategic guidance on legal issues, manages compliance and risk mitigation, reviews contracts, and handles other legal duties to protect the organization's interests. Uses a broad range of legal expertise and current knowledge to advise leadership on any regulatory changes or actions that may impact the business. Additionally, Top Legal Executive assists or represents the organization in business negotiations. May assist in the defense of the organization in lawsuits and the prosecution of lawsuits on behalf of the organization. Requires a JD. Requires State Bar membership. Typically reports to Top Legal Executive. Responsible for the development of functional or business unit strategy for the entire organization.     Roles and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

    • This is a full-time position, hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm which includes an hour (unpaid) for lunch. Overtime possible as workload and deadlines vary.
    • This position will primarily support the Estate Planning & Probate group but could see assignments across all practice areas.
    • Prior experience in this practice area is a bonus but not required- will train the right candidate. Candidate should expect to work with Wills, Trusts, Powers of Attorney, and other EP/Probate related documents;
    • Coordinating calendars, scheduling appointments, answering multiple telephone lines and corresponding with clients;
    • Drafting/reviewing/finalizing pleadings, documents and written correspondence, transcription;
    • Ability/willingness to learn to electronically file court documents is required;
    • Excellent writing, communication and presentation skills;
    • Keeping files current and organized, including opening new files, running conflict checks and closing out old files once project is complete;
    • Interacting with clients and professionals from other firms/businesses;
    • Proficient in spelling, correct use of grammar and punctuation;
    • Strong attention to detail and high level of organization is required-this cannot be stressed enough;
    • Positive, can-do attitude;
    • Excellent proofreading skills;
    • Strong interpersonal skills;
    • Strong sense of urgency and commitment to excellence;
    • Ability to function successfully in a high-pressure, fast paced environment;
    • Ability to provide support multiple people and tasks while meeting targeted deadlines;
    • Experience in scanning documents and editing PDFs;
    • Must be flexible, willing to work occasional overtime and occasional weekends;
    • Must be able to lift at least 10lbs and sit for extended periods of time;
    • Strong initiative to go above and beyond – specifically, to double check work product for accuracy, ask good questions to cover bases of projects and tasks, and be independently resourceful;
    • Ability to multi-task throughout the day with high level of efficiency;
    • Understand and work around competing deadlines among team members;
    • Proficient in Outlook email/calendar and MS Word experience required. Excel and PowerPoint experience is a bonus. Must be able to accurately type 60-80 WPM.

    Additionally, this position will work closely with the firm's Managing Partner and as such, executive assistant-level skills in writing, coordination, planning, and scheduling with an eye toward discretion and detail is highly desired. Specific information as to the details and growth trajectory of this desired executive level function will be provided to candidates selected for interviews ahead of their scheduled interview time.
