Top Legal Executive plans and directs all aspects of an organization's legal affairs. Ensures all business policies and activities are managed correctly and in compliance with current laws. Being a Top Legal Executive provides strategic guidance on legal issues, manages compliance and risk mitigation, reviews contracts, and handles other legal duties to protect the organization's interests. Uses a broad range of legal expertise and current knowledge to advise leadership on any regulatory changes or actions that may impact the business. Additionally, Top Legal Executive assists or represents the organization in business negotiations. May assist in the defense of the organization in lawsuits and the prosecution of lawsuits on behalf of the organization. Requires a JD. Requires State Bar membership. Typically reports to Top Legal Executive. Responsible for the development of functional or business unit strategy for the entire organization. Legal Assistance for Seniors (LAS) provides legal services to seniors throughout Alameda County
on matters pertaining to prevention of elder abuse, public benefits, housing, guardianships of
minors, naturalization, limited conservatorships, conservatorships, consumer, home and
community-based services and health law. LAS also provides individual counseling and advocacy
to Medicare beneficiaries about their Medicare rights and coverage options through our HICAP
Program. Through our Community Education Department, we provide educational presentations to
both seniors and service providers on both Medicare and legal topics.
