As our next Underwriting Counsel in South Carolina, you will be responsible for assessing the risks associated with issuing title insurance policies and playing a key role in the growth and profitability of the underwriting territory. Including building and maintaining strong relationships with agencies to support business development.
We are looking for someone who has a transactional background combined with a strong customer focus.
Responsibilities:
- Provide underwriting support, answers, & guidance to customers & internal departments on real estate closings & title insurance matters & determine the Company's willingness and ability to ensure within the parameters of those transactions.
- Create & deliver relevant educational topics at live seminars & webinars.
- Establish relationships with new customers & maintain & grow relationships with existing customers.
- The ability to provide underwriting support in additional jurisdictions is a plus.
- Respond to time-sensitive requests from customers for guidance in closing real estate transactions & mitigate risk.
- The position also requires some support & assistance with business development efforts.
- Assist with audits as needed.
Requirements:
- A Juris Doctorate Degree from an ABA-approved law school.
- Licensed attorney in good standing in South Carolina and living in South Carolina.
- 3-10 years of experience in title insurance or real estate, with a strong preference for candidates with a transactional background.
- Complete knowledge of title insurance rates, rules, & regulations across assigned states, with a commitment to staying updated on industry developments.
- Travel to agents offices in South Carolina
- Exceptional analytical & problem-solving skills, capable of managing complex title issues.
- Proven ability to develop new business relationships & support customer growth.
- Excellent communication skills, with the capacity to create & deliver impactful presentations.
