Director of Manufacturing

Edsal was founded and operated as a family-owned and operated business on Chicago's South Side for over 60 years prior to being acquired by Monomoy Capital Partners in 2018. Job Summary
The Director of Manufacturing directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Director of Manufacturing systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, the Director of Manufacturing ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Approve policies developed within various sub-functions and departments.
Director of Manufacturing Key Responsibilities
- Direct and drive all production distribution operations
- Plan, organize, direct, and run optimum day-to-day operations using ERP
- Ensure that productivity is achieved at the lowest cost consistent with quality control
- Delegate authority to key supervisors in production, maintenance, and related operations
- Collaborate with colleagues for staffing, training, and performance management
- Create and implement a vision and operating strategy that measures the achievement and execution of company objectives and goals
- Collaborate with colleagues for the execution of the quality control plan to ensure the product produced meets our high standards
- Collaborate with colleagues in the development and implementation of safety protocols to reduce workplace hazards and injuries
- Responsible for PA & CA Offices
Key Qualifications
We seek someone who can lead labor relations negotiations and engage with leadership involving plant operations. Oversees two (California & Pennsylvania) multi-functional plant teams, including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources.

The ability to manage a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approve policies developed within various sub-functions and departments and comprehensively understand the overall departmental function.
Education and Experience
7 -10 years of management experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience working with continuous improvement tools
Strong operational background with people, quality, and safety
Bachelor’s Degree preferred but not required
Experience working in the steel Manufacturing industry
