    About the Market:

    The Sequim Farmers and Artisans Market (SFAM) is a vibrant and dynamic open-air market that operates every Saturday from May through October. Our mission is to cultivate a belonging space and a viable marketplace by responding to the needs of our community. We envision an interdependent local economy fueled by entrepreneurs who grow, gather, and create by hand. We see a successful market as a thriving and vibrant community commons that reflects our region.

    This position reports to the Operations Manager and the employee can expect to work from 6 AM to 4 PM, May – October. You must be 16 or over to apply. This is a seasonal position.

    Essential Functions

    • Ensures policy and procedures are followed for everyone’s safety
    • Coordinates activities related to Market Day (set up of community booths, assisting vendors with booth placement, street signage, securing SFAM equipment, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring that all phases of Market Days are executed in a smooth and well-functioning manner.
    • Implements programs as coordinated by the Market Director, for the purpose of effectively serving the community’s demonstrated needs.
    • Maintains consistent and accurate records of market booth transactions.
    • Actively contributes to a cooperative team dynamic for the purpose of maintaining a healthy work environment for all staff and volunteers.

    Other Functions

    • Ability: communicating with a variety of stakeholders; working on a schedule; working as part of a team; flexible to changing conditions; making quick and accurate decisions; and maintaining confidentiality. Physical abilities include ability to safely lift 50 pounds, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, and fine finger dexterity.
    • Responsibility: assisting in market day operations; and working independently under broad organizational guidelines to achieve SFAM objectives
    • Work Environment: The job is often performed under some temperature extremes in a variety of weather conditions. The market day is outdoors and physically demanding.
    • Experience: No experience required. Minimum age 16 years.
    • Preferred skills: bilingual (Spanish)

    Compensation

    • 10 hours/week @ $20/hour, May-October
    • We abide by employment laws:
    • Breaks for Adults: Rest break required every 3 hours (Rest break is 10 minutes), Meal break required every 5 hours (Meal break is 30 minutes)
    • Breaks for Minors: Rest break required every 2 hours (Rest break is 10 minutes), Meal break required every 4 hours (Meal break is 30 minutes)
