Responsible to the Chief Quality Officer to plan, develop, and direct the Infection Control program for the organization. Monitors and investigates known or suspected sources of infections in order to determine the source and ensure control. Reviews sterilization and disinfection techniques and recommends changes as needed. Provides related education to staff. Prepares simple cultures as needed for environmental and individual studies.
Provides consultation and recommendations for infection control policies/procedures and practices center-wide. This includes both Lake Norman Regional Medical Center and Davis Regional Medical Center. Analyzes and develops recommendations depending on the risk factors associated with the spread of infectious disease. Recommends interventions to prevent transmission of infectious diseases. Works closely with Staff Development dealing with Infection Control issues. Investigates infection clusters and unusual pathogens. Works closely with Employee Health with Vaccine Program. Works closely with local and state health departments dealing with infection control regulations and communicable diseases.
