Job Summary:
The Infection Control Preventionist Nurse assists with administration and compliance of employee health screening, vaccinations, in-services, recruitment of Nursing staff, facility and Nursing Department Orientations, and monitors employee compliance in use of barriers and infection prevention measures. Infection control also provides internal and external reporting of information and data; promotes compliance with regulations; guidelines, and accreditation requirements.
Job Description:
· Assists Staff Development Manager with administration and compliance TB screening, Hepatitis B vaccines, and flu vaccines and compliance of in-services
· Assists with following up with employees to ensure timely completion of TB screening
· Administers TB screening, Hepatitis B vaccines, and flu vaccines to employees and volunteers
· Tracks completion of TB screening, flu vaccinations, and required in-services and runs reports to identify staff who are due for screening and in-services
· Coordinates and leads educational programs for staff, including orientations, in-services, competencies, and training programs
· Maintains up-to-date certifications and knowledge of best practices and leads in[1]services for Nursing staff
· Assists with Nursing competencies
Assists with the process of obtaining CEU accreditation for programs,
Assists with New Employee Orientation/ Nursing Department Orientation
· Maintains current CPR, First Aide, and BBET certifications
· Assists with peer interview panels as needed
· Satisfies all educational in-service requirements mandated by CHI Living Communities, the department, external accrediting, and regulatory agencies
· Attends all mandatory in-service programs
· Adheres to facility policies and procedures
· Completes yearly online education program by deadline
· Assess infection control problems and makes recommendations
· Monitors infection control practices and employee compliance
· Conducts outbreak investigations and initiates control measures
· Has direct function for acute medical/nursing care plan and documentation pertaining to infections
In addition to the essential job specific duties listed above, the Infection Control Preventionist shall be required to perform all duties (essential and non-essential) in a manner consistent with the mission and values (compassion, excellence, inclusion, integrity, collaboration) of CHI Living Communities and will be evaluated on such basis.
