    Job Description:

    APPOINTMENT: June 1, 2023

    RESPONSIBILITIES: Executive Director of Quad Cities Operations is responsible for community outreach and partnership development that contributes to University growth and impact in the Quad Cities region and serves as second administrator in charge of the WIU Quad Cities campus.

    OUTREACH:
    • Provides strategic leadership for development and implementation of strategic community and regional outreach and partnerships.
    • Builds new and strengthens existing partnerships with local business, community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to promote the University and align University academic programs, people, and expertise with regional innovation, entrepreneurship, and career and workforce development priorities.
    • Attends community networking opportunities, meetings, and community events and traditions with a focus on partnership development.
    • Provides campus leadership for outreach activities such as summer camps, academic discipline-specific events (i.e. Engineering Week), and special on-campus event, speakers, and workshops. Establishes a schedule to accomplish each event cycle from beginning to end including recruitment, interface with participants/volunteers, providing resources and program information, meeting event guidelines, planning logistics, engaging in pre-event setup, event execution, and post-event tear down, and concluding with a debrief for continuous improvement.
    • Serves as a member of the WIU Quad Cities Outreach Team, collaborating between academic affairs, advancement, enrollment, marketing, public television and other areas to develop and implement outreach activities that raise the profile of WIU in the Quad Cities region, and meet the needs of the community.
    • Represents the Vice President for Quad Cities Campus Operations as needed on relevant Quad Cities community organizations.
    • Provides coordination and implements academic outreach initiatives, programs, and events on the Quad Cities campus. Serves as a liaison between departments and schools within academic affairs and Quad Cities regional partners and organizations.
    • Generate college and program visibility strategies working with staff on news releases, brochures, flyers, website pages, distributions (mailing or emailing), or other means.
    • Assists with initiation and implementation of educational partnerships in collaboration with academic affairs, colleges/schools/departments, university marketing, and enrollment/admissions.
    • Convenes the Quad Cities Planning Advisory Council, with consultation and collaboration with the Vice President and Director of Development and Corporate Relations.

    OPERATIONS:
    • Serves as second administrator in charge of the Quad Cities campus and acts as administrator in charge when the Vice President is not available. Maintains comprehensive working awareness of university and campus operations, policies, protocols, procedures, and contacts.
    • Represents WIU Quad Cities to the media when the Vice President is not available, or to provide subject matter expertise.
    • Creates and maintains Quad Cities-specific data and reports to inform decision making and planning related to university initiatives in the Quad Cities.
    • Contributes to an inclusive and collaborative work environment that embraces and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
    • Participates on university committees representing the Quad Cities campus.
    • Projects and duties as assigned by the Vice President.

    Requirements:

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • An earned master's degree from an accredited institution is required.
    • Minimum of three years of experience in higher education administration, with increasing roles and responsibilities.
    • Demonstrated understanding of the unique opportunities and needs of a multi-campus university and organizational relationships between internal and external stakeholders.
    • Experience developing and implementing successful external partnerships with employers, organizations, schools, and colleges/universities.
    • Experience implementing actions within a strategic plan.
    • Knowledge of outreach strategies for career and workforce development, academic affairs, student affairs, and demonstrated ability to collaborate and implement initiatives with colleagues and partners.
    • Strong interpersonal skills and exceptional oral, written, and presentational skills.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Strong knowledge of Quad Cities region with established professional networks.
    • Five years progressive experience in higher education administration.
    • Contextual awareness about historical, current, and future opportunities and challenges in higher education.
