Pipeline Construction Inspector:
- Provides inspection services documenting construction activities.
- Ensures work is performed in accordance with O&M procedures, the project work plan, company environmental and safety standards, and as required by project-specific permitting.
- Reviews contractor qualifications, ensuring qualifications to perform required tasks.
- Coordinates work activities with contractors, ensuring quality work and efficient use of resources.
- Communicates company standards and policies to contractors.
- Completes company forms, creates as-built data, and obtains GPS data. Records wall and coating thicknesses, anomaly dimensions, soil resistivity, and P/S readings.
- Communicates work activities with Gas Control and Measurement Group.
- Works with Environmental Compliance Coordinator, ensuring environmental compliance through scheduling site inspections and acquiring samples for testing.
- Ensures material is disposed of properly.
- Inspects recoating, pad work, fence work, paint work, and anomaly digs.
Sr Pipeline Construction Inspector:
Performs all duties of Pipeline Construction Inspector and:
- Interacts with customers and landowners to resolve construction issues and conflicts.
- Digitizes all documentation for records retention.
- Downloads and processes field-acquired GPS data and pressure test recorder data.
- Works with engineering group during design phase, to address constructability issues.
- Identifies design and constructability issues in the field and provides solutions for engineering review and approval.
- Assists in determining project timelines and cost.
- Communicates and coordinates work activities with Gas Control and Measurement Group.
- Inspects HDDs, conventional bores, electrical installs, tapping and stopping activities, and air mover operation.
Pipeline Construction Inspector - At least 3 years' experience with pipeline construction methods. A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications.
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Pipeline Weld Inspector
- NACE CIP Level 1
- CEPSCI
- API 1169
Sr Pipeline Construction Inspector - At least 6 years' experience with pipeline construction methods. A partial year of related work experience of 6 months or greater will be considered one year towards the qualifications.
Preferred Certifications:
- Certified Pipeline Weld Inspector (or must obtain within 12 months of hiring)
- NACE CIP Level 1 (or must obtain within 12 months of hiring)
- CEPSCI
- API 1169
The knowledge, skills, abilities and experience required for entry into this job include the following:
- Knowledge of safety practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of OHSA standards. Knowledge of PHMSA (CFR 192) and FERC regulations.
- Knowledge of steps and procedures required for tapping and stopping work.
- Ability to operate data acquisition equipment in recording and processing GPS data.
- Ability to record data with coating and UT gauges.
- Ability to record anomaly measurements, utilizing pit gauges.
- Ability to utilize multimeter and half-cell for P/S readings.
- Ability to utilize pipe locator to mark lines.
- Ability to operate and process digital pressure, test recorder data.
- Ability to operate a personal computer proficiently.
- Ability to identify problems, collect and analyze data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to establish and maintain rapport.
- Ability to communicate effectively.
- Ability to work independently, and as a team member.
- Ability to respond to emergency call out. Ability to lift up to 75 pounds.
