Job Description

TeamBuilders is hiring for a Product Development Specialist to join a Food Processing company in the Fresno, CA area.

The Product Development Specialist will be responsible for developing recipes of food products with a variety of ingredients while ensuring the final product is flavorful and packaged appropriately for the end user/consumer. This role will require strong technical skills for calculating nutritional values, specifications, label review, data management, document control and continuous improvement.

This is a new position within a stable food processing company and will allow for the Product Development Specialist the opportunity to evolve and grow within the company. The ideal candidate will bring an entrepreneurial and creative sprit to this role, in addition to strong technical skills gained from previous experience within a food processing company.

The Product Development Specialist is being offered on a full-time, direct hire basis Monday through Friday. The starting salary range is $75K-$100K per year, DOE. Company offers a highly competitive benefits package including Health, Dental, Vision and 401k.

The Essential Daily Duties of the Product Development Specialist:

• Development of recipes & food products 
• Coordination of sensory evaluations of raw and finished food products
• Apply a wide variety of food microbiology, chemistry & food production experience to ensure food safety, accuracy of labeling, quality and prevention of product defects, etc.
• Data Management & Documentation; ensuring the integrity of all data entered into the ERP systems such as raw ingredients, finished goods, specifications, labels & nutritional information
• Calculation of nutritional information in compliance with FDA regulations
• Perform Research & Development including calculations of new product specifications including recipe modifications and FDA guidelines & regulations for import and export of specific food products
• Collaborate with multiple internal teams and departments such as Production, Operations, Logistics, Supply Chain, QA/QC, Finance & Management to ensure real time inventory levels, production availability, shipping times, budgetary compliance and to communicate all relative information preventing discrepancies and ensuring overall efficiency, safety & quality
• Responsible for customer sample requests & ingredient sourcing, obtaining supplier samples and all necessary documentation & products required for commercialization
•  Assist with sourcing of existing products, ingredients & packaging while ensuring quality and food safety
• Additional related duties as required

Qualifications

The Required Skills, Experience & Education of the Product Development Specialist:

• BS Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry or similar field of study is required
• Previous experience working within a Food Production and/or related role, food product development & packaging development preferred
• Food safety & quality experience and knowledge required
• Advanced detail orientation, time management, project management & organizational skills required
• Professional communication skills; verbal, written & interpersonal
• Strong MS Office skills; Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint required
• ERP systems experience required
• Understanding of New Product Development processes & procedures preferred
