MAJESTIC THEATRE PROGRAM DIRECTOR

    The Program Director serves as the chief administrator of the Majestic Theatre, coordinating and overseeing all programming, scheduling, and communication pertinent to the venue. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to complete multiple tasks in a fast paced environment, and strong public relations skills are essential. The Program Director is responsible for the public experience of attending events at the Majestic, as well as the artist/organization experience of appearing at the Majestic. Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks among a wide variety of needs is necessary.

    Principal Duties include:

    • As the leader of MTMC’s Artistic and Programming team, develop and implement strategies to research, identify, and recommend music bookings.
    • Secure appropriate bookings for Majestic Theatre concert series, consistent with board-approved strategies and programming goals.
    • Assist in developing event budgets and ensure revenue and expense goals are consistently being met.
    • Oversee all communication with artists, management companies, stakeholders, etc., including timely and accurate completion of artist contracts and technical riders.
    • Manage venue calendar and facilitate all scheduling related to the theater, including scheduling related to MTMC use, partner events, and rentals.
    • Provide support and guidance in developing strategies for balancing community use and rentals of the Majestic Theatre with internal programming.
    • Lead the Artistic/Programming team in identifying opportunities for growth consistent with the organization’s mission, including programming that utilizes the theater’s cinema system.
    • Work with Majestic Theatre Operations Manager to ensure the general operations of the venue are functioning properly and efficiently.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Demonstrated experience in venue/function/event production (3 years minimum)
    • Demonstrated experience leading and motivating a team, including working with volunteers
    • Demonstrated experience in negotiating contracts and technical riders

    KNOWLEDGE

    • Knowledge and proficiency in various aspects of music/performing arts/concert settings.
    • Skills in technical theater a plus

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS

    • Excellent written and oral communication skills
    • Compassionate, facilitative, collaborative, and effective team player
    • Ability to anticipate internal and external stakeholder needs

    MANAGEMENT SKILLS

    • Organizational leadership skills necessary for creating and sustaining new initiatives
    • Ability to work with diverse personalities
    • Discretion in dealing with sensitive information

    WORK SKILLS

    • Efficient worker with attention to detail
    • Ability to independently prioritize and complete work in a complex environment
    • Sophisticated time management, process management, and prioritizing skills
    • Ability to create necessary tools to succeed

    Job classification: Part-time Non Exempt

    Reports to: Executive Director

    Anticipated workload: 25 Hours weekly average, with strong potential to grow

    Modality: Hybrid onsite/remote; Presence at events is expected
