Field Property Claims Adjuster - Tucson Arizona area

  • Standard Casualty Company has an immediate opening for a Field Property Claims Adjuster handling claims in Tucson Arizona and the surrounding counties. In Person, face-to-face interviews will be completed in our New Braunfels offices.

    Normal work hours for this position are Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm with the ability for the adjuster to set their own schedule. This is a remote position which includes a monthly auto allowance, cell phone and internet stipend and an annual company bonus. However, new hire training as well as any possible future training will be completed in our New Braunfels, Texas offices.

    Job Summary: The Field Property Claims Adjuster position for Standard Casualty Company is responsible for adjusting insurance claims filed by policyholders in addition to planning and scheduling work needed to adjust claim. The claims adjuster is responsible for communicating directly with the policyholder in the field, interviewing insured(s), providing recommendations for the claim settlement, conducting any necessary investigations and negotiates moderate to complex property claims. This position will be responsible for analyzing coverage and preparing estimates in compliance with all state regulatory requirements.

    Core Responsibilities and/or duties will include but are not limited to the following:

    • Contact insureds and schedule inspection dates and interview insured regarding property damage.
    • Inspect property, photograph, determine coverage for the damage as presented and prepare estimates for assigned claims and make recommendations regarding the payment obligations of the Company.
    • Conduct investigations if necessary and gather evidence needed for the claim.
    • Take an insured recorded statement when required on property and liability claims.
    • Work with insured’s contractor to reconcile differences in estimates.
    • Conduct Underwriting and Risk Assessment of property.
    • Follow written guidelines and compliance policies and procedures for claims investigations.
    • Able to adjust moderate to complex structural damage claims ranging from moderate to complex in severity.
    • Able to make independent decisions within established guidelines and policy provisions.
    • Able to respond to workload surge requirements during catastrophic events for up to 3 weeks at a time should the need arise.
    • Any additional duties assigned by the supervisor.

    Required Job Skills:

    • High School Diploma or College degree preferred.
    • Experience with Xactimate, Xactanalysis, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
    • Clean driving record, for a period of three (3) years and no DWI convictions for a minimum of five (5) years.
    • Minimum three (3) years daily claims adjusting experience. Experience must be adjusting Personal Lines Homeowner Property Claims.
    • Current Property and Casualty Adjuster’s Residence license for the state where adjuster is located.
    • Intermediate residential property construction experience and/or knowledge.
    • Experience in negotiation, investigation and communication with policyholders.
    • Knowledge of insurance policies and endorsements for residential property.
    • Adjuster must be able to estimate damages and prepare an estimate in Xactimate.
    • Additional job requirements include valid state issued driver’s license and seven (7) year old or later personal vehicle in good operating condition.

    Work environment and Physical Demands with Reasonable Accommodations:

    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time and be able to operate a computer or other office productivity machinery on a constant basis.
    • Frequently required to communicate with co-workers and policy holders with the ability to exchange accurate information as necessary.
    • Occasionally required to move about the office.
    • Frequently required to ascend/descend stairs or ladder to access roof of dwelling and adjacent structures to inspect damage, get underneath homes with access, inspect all exteriors and interiors of home for damage.
    • Occasionally required to move and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds.
    • Drive up to 400 miles to insured dwelling with possibility of overnight stay.
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • Position will require remote work. Employee must have Wi-Fi connectivity, a smart phone and a designated work area in their home.
