Position Description:
Güd Marketing, a Lansing-based integrated marketing and public relations firm, is looking for a public relations manager. This position will be responsible for providing high-level strategy, skillful execution and daily contact and project management for a wide range of clients. This team member must be able to work in a fast-paced environment, with efficiency, flexibility and strong attention to detail. They must possess superior writing skills and excellent verbal and communication skills and show awareness of media trends on a local and national level.
The public relations manager should have 10 years of experience in public relations or similar fields, and in as many of the following areas as possible: issue management, crisis management, advocacy outreach, project management, social media management, content marketing and/or journalism.
Essential Responsibilities & Duties:
- Create and maintain a favorable and innovative public image for clients by communicating programs, accomplishments and points of view
- Field media questions and pitch stories to the media, prepare media kits and organize news conferences
- Deploy news content via internal and external comms channels, including press releases, client websites, internal comms and social media platforms, that increases brand and product awareness
- Receive requests and prepare summaries for decision-making
- Handle day-to-day public relations and outreach activities for assigned clients
- Keep apprised of progress of clients’ projects through agency operations
- Participate in crisis communication and strategy development and implementation
- Plan and manage a variety of news conferences, tours, trade industry forums and events (virtually and in person)
- Prepare written materials in all different formats, appealing to many different client audiences and maintaining core messaging
- Regularly communicate with the state and local governments, professional organizations and authorities
- Compile and update media and contact databases for a wide range of clients
- Monitor client topics on a daily basis in the news and on social media channels and create client dashboards, keyword search alerts and ongoing tracking reports
- Participate in new business opportunities and help grow business from existing clients
- Oversee activities to encourage good teamwork
- This position will act as an ambassador, fostering connections between Güd, brands and perspective community partners

- Strong writing skills with proven examples of published writing in multiple formats, including long-form content, press materials and printed materials
- A can-do attitude and commitment to delivering creative solutions for internal stakeholders
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- The ability to make decisions
- Deadline driven
Education & Professional Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, journalism or related fields
- Preferred Accreditation in Public Relations
- Ten or more years of relevant experience
- Critical professional-related technical/computer skills: Must be proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite tools and Teams. Familiarity with media monitoring tools necessary
