POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the General Manager, this position is responsible for the overall purchasing functions of the plant. This includes inventory management, material control and policies and procedures.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES
Management
a. Manages and directs the activities of the Purchasing Department and Material Control personnel.
b. Enforces policies and procedures.
c. Evaluates performance of subordinates.
d. Recommends salary levels.
Administration
a. Keeps inventory pricing updated.
b. Enters all inventory data in the inventory system.
c. Enters new materials and pricing into the inventory system.
d. Reviews monthly credit card expenditures for the department.
e. Maintains standard material information.
f. Reviews pre-released prints and attends pre-production meetings.
g. Prices and allocates all material movement forms.
h. Approves invoices for payment.
i. Reviews purchase order to invoices pricing and quantity discrepancies.
Purchasing
a. Purchases materials for different projects.
b. Understands the modular building construction process. This includes reading blueprints and usage of raw materials during the construction process.
c. Purchases standard materials for cycle counts.
d. Negotiates prices on materials.
e. Researches new materials.
f. Adds new vendors into purchase order system.
g. Interacts with vendors as needed.
Material Control
a. Coordinates quarterly physical inventories.
b. Develops obsolete material lists.
c. Coordinates usage or disposal of obsolete material.
d. Purchases replacement parts for damaged material
.
Miscellaneous
a. Provides the Sales and Engineering Departments with technical information on special material.
b. Performs other duties as assigned.
c. In some cases, this position will also fulfil one of the other job duties in the department.
