We are seeking a detail oriented individual (full time) to serve as a Purchasing Agent to handle all purchasing responsibilities generated by our various Plant and Shop Supervisors. As a key member of the TRI team, the successful candidate will be responsible for cost estimating, vendor negotiations, purchase order generation, substitutions, analysis of buying trends, inventory control and authorization of payment for goods and services.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment and possess solid computer skills in Excel. Building and maintaining relationships through interaction and negotiations with vendors is key. Familiarity with commonly used construction materials, components, equipment and supplies is required. This is a salaried position.

Full Job Description

• Permanent position for a Purchasing Agent to procure goods and services including raw materials, consumables, small equipment, tools, parts, and supplies using corporate requirements and market price knowledge by obtaining 3 quotes.
• Select products for purchase by testing, observing, or examining items and analyzing feedback from manufacturing plant personnel.
• Work with vendors for product pricing, availability, and delivery. Maintain and expedite delivery of goods for users.
• Review and process requisitions for correct authorization and vendor selection.
• Prepares purchase orders or bid requests.
• Maintain correct inbound freight cost on purchase orders.
• Reviews bid proposals with Purchasing Manager to confirm costs within budget.
• Maintains manual and computerized procurement records for services purchased, costs, delivery.
• Review daily receiving records for accuracy and correct if needed.
• Experience with commodity purchasing including materials such as metal, steel, equipment parts in the Construction field
• Strong written and verbal communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
• Strong decision-making, motivational, time management, analytical and organizational skills
• Construction, heavy equipment, parts, and automotive experience preferred
