  • Job Summary

    The Quality Assurance Manager oversees Quality Assurance Technicians and processes required to ensure that safe and quality food ingredients are produced by performing quality control tests and other tasks per Top Tier Ingredients, LLC. Quality Assurance Standards. This role requires a working knowledge of Leadership skills and the implementation and monitoring of the entire Quality Assurance System (SQF program, HACCP program, Food Safety Plan, and Quality Plan.)

    Core Responsibilities:

    • Quality Assurance Responsibilities (70%)
      • Oversees the drawing, testing, recording, and reporting of quality control samples of raw materials and finished products to ensure that all Top Tier ingredients produced are safe and meet the quality standards of Top Tier and our customer’s needs.
      • Checking batch sheets to ensure that the correct formulation and material are used per Top Tier’s production requirements
      • Conducting bar-line, processing, and packaging CPC checks.
      • Reporting all variances in accordance with Top-Tier policies and SOPs.
      • Holding all raw materials and finished products that fail to meet established standards and finalize disposition on held items.
    • General Operations Responsibilities (30%)
      • Works with the Production Manager to carefully manage the processes, raw materials, and equipment required to manufacture a product that meets all internal and external specifications for a quality product.
      • Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, product safety, sanitation knowledge and oversight, and knowledge of continuous improvement.
      • Works with shipping/receiving personnel to ensure proper handling and storage of raw materials and WIP management.
      • Creates and maintains all applicable SOPs and SSOPs for the Quality Assurance group.
      • Ensures that Lean/Six Sigma practices are being incorporated and continuously used to maximize efficiencies.
      • Ensuring that the work environment is meeting safety and health standards and that equipment Is well-maintained and functions reliably

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Working knowledge of food safety and QA programs, such as HACCP, SQF, and PCQI, as well as knowledge of FSMA, Data Analytics, SOP, and SSOP development.
    • Ability to enter quality data accurately, efficiently, and effectively into computerized data management systems.
    • Ability to communicate effectively and understand verbal and written directions.
    • A team approach to problem-solving and implementation are necessary.

    Preferred Experience:

    • Minimum 3 years of experience in a food manufacturing environment.
    • 1-2 years of experience in quality control in a food processing environment is preferred.

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to frequently climb stairs and ladders, walk on catwalks, and work on and around plant equipment.
    • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs regularly, and up to 50 lbs occasionally
    • Requires the ability to understand verbal and written communication from others clearly.

    Work Schedule:

    The Quality Assurance Manager’s work schedule can vary based on the time of year and product demand. One can generally expect 40 to 50 hours, over 5-6 days per week.
