Research and Development Technician (Hot Deli - BBQ)
Summary:
The Research and Development Technician will play a vital role in our hot deli department, assisting in creating and refining recipes for our store-level operations. This role involves researching products, testing ingredients, and developing innovative and delicious hot deli BBQ items. The ideal candidate will have a passion for culinary exploration, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the R&D team to conceptualize and develop new recipes for the hot deli department, focusing on BBQ items.
- Conduct research on ingredients, flavors, and cooking techniques to enhance the quality and taste of our hot deli offerings.
- Test and refine recipes, adjusting ingredients and cooking methods as necessary to achieve desired flavors and textures.
- Maintain accurate records of recipe development, including ingredient measurements, cooking times, and preparation instructions.
- Assist in the evaluation of food product samples and provide feedback on taste, quality, and consistency.
- Work closely with the hot deli team to ensure smooth implementation of new recipes, providing training and guidance as needed.
- Monitor market trends and competitor offerings to identify opportunities for innovation and differentiation.
- Collaborate with suppliers to source high-quality ingredients and equipment for recipe development.
- Adhere to food safety and sanitation standards throughout the recipe development process.
- Continuously assess and improve existing recipes to meet customer preferences and optimize operational efficiency.
- Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Qualification:
- A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A culinary degree or equivalent experience in a related field is preferred.
- Food safety certification and knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations is required.
- Demonstrated experience in recipe development, preferably in a hot deli or food retail setting.
- Passion for culinary innovation and exploring new flavors, ingredients, and cooking techniques.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules.
- Strong knowledge of Asian cuisine, particularly BBQ and hot deli-style dishes.
- Strong knowledge of product testing procedures and quality control measures.
- Knowledge of food processing techniques, equipment operation, and recipe creation.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills to streamline processes and implement improvements effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Bilingual English/Mandarin or English/ Spanish is preferred.
- Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Physical Requirements:
- This job may require standing or walking for extended periods of time, lifting up to 50 pounds, and performing repetitive motions.
Working Conditions:
- This job is performed in a production environment that may have exposure to heat, noise, and other environmental factors associated with food production.
- The position will work in a commercial kitchen environment and will be required to follow food safety and sanitation guidelines.

Compensation:
The pay range for this job is between $20 and $25 per hour. This is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
