The Manager of Strategic Market Planning will report to the Development Leadership Team and will partner with teams across the organization in order to help Papa John’s meet growth goals.  This role is both project-oriented (such projects will change and evolve alongside the priorities of executive leadership) and responsible for day-to-day support of critical real estate analytics and development decisions. The team is responsible for preparing in-house market research studies and reports using GIS applications and primary research methods.  The Manager will analyze and create presentation materials for various projects associated with efforts to expand our US & Canada store network.  The team is responsible for having a deep understanding of demographic, competitor, and other related industry trends. Time spent defining trade areas and analyzing the influences that impact the performance of our locations is key to business success.  Define and understand behavior of individual restaurants (or groups of restaurants) that do not perform to expectations. 

Essential Functions

• Conduct various market research studies and spatial reports. Provide strategic analysis concerning trade area creation, overlaps and voids, business generation and cannibalization.
• Create, compile and review site research submittals to ensure they meet criteria and present to Development Leadership.
• Research, coordinate, and evaluate opportunities utilizing demographic data as needed for locations being considered for new stores, new markets, existing stores and existing markets using geographic information system software (GIS) and other primary research methods.
• Guide projects with internal and external sources to obtain pertinent information needed to support site research and site presentations. Be familiar with all aspects of each proposal.
• Collaborate with Finance to create financial proforma income statement templates for new and existing store locations, remodels, expansions, and other special requests.
• Support data gathering and transformation into systems including customer data, competitor data, demographic data, traffic data, and more. 
• Assist with strategic recommendations for growth opportunities, relocations and related activities based on comprehensive findings from reporting and time-in-market.
• Build expertise in internal site management systems (Kalibrate / Intalytics).
• Proactively identify and complete special projects and methodology development.
• As needed, travel to existing/new markets and proposed sites, ICSC-sponsored events and various additional conferences/seminars related to market research, geographic information systems (GIS) and other industry related topics.
