Are you looking for a position where you can work as part of a team to help families learn to support their child's development? The Early Steps Program supports families and children with developmental delays building competence and confidence of parents and caregivers to support their child's development. As an Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist (ITDS) you will work with a team of professionals to deliver early intervention services to families in their natural environment. Children birth to three years of age with developmental delays can qualify for this program and there are no income eligibility requirements. We are looking for a passionate person to join our team. We will assist you in obtaining your state certification as an Infant Toddler Developmental Specialist and we provide on-going professional development using the statewide Florida Embedded Practices and interventions with caregivers (FL-EPIC) professional development program.
This position is a contracted position.
Responsibilities and Duties
The ITDS works primarily with parents and caregivers coaching them to support their child's development. An extensive knowledge of child development is required and knowledge of adult learning and coaching is preferred. Training is offered and new ITDS providers will be supported by a mentor.
Qualifications and Skills and Experience
You must have a minimum of 1 year experience working hands on with children with disabilities or developmental delays ranging in ages birth up to 5 years old. To obtain state certification a degree in early childhood education, communication sciences, social work, psychology or closely related field and an extensive knowledge of early childhood development is required. The ability to work as a team member and to communicate effectively with people, is essential to this role. Services are delivered in the child's natural environment so a valid drivers license and use of your own car is required. (Mileage is reimbursed).
