      Primary Purpose:

      Work as a capacity builder by providing systemic support of South San Antonio ISD’s strategic design, vision, mission, and goals. Provide curricular, instructional, and programmatic leadership with regard to school design and choice programs, instructional technology & library/media services district-wide, college and career pathways. Collaborate with fellow directors in the Division of Academics and directors/staff from other district divisions to create systems that support principals and teachers growth and development. Ensure collaboration between content and instructional technology and district programs to provide seamless learning and support for campus personnel. Ensure that all district initiatives and programs are implemented in collaboration with campus leadership and have appropriate evaluation measures to assess program effectiveness. Provide professional learning that compels campus administrators and teachers to embrace 21st century learning skills and digital era demands in a way that maximizes use of technology for learning, collaboration, and intentional sharing of practice.

      Qualifications:

      Education/Certifications:
        Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
        Master’s degree from an accredited university
        Administrative Certificate

      Special Knowledge/Skills:
        Extensive knowledge of school design processes to include creating new school frameworks, marketing & branding, enrollment & recruitment, and fiscal planning
        Knowledge of college preparatory programs-Advanced Placement (AP)/Advanced Academics, Avid, Gear UP and others
        Extensive Knowledge of Career & Technical Education (CTE) pathways
        Knowledge of Project -Based Learning and technologies available for use in instructional settings including Google Apps for Education and Google Classroom
        Working knowledge of state sponsored instructional materials programs (EMAT, etc.)
        Knowledge of information literacy skills and library/media service programs
        Demonstrates change adeptness; adapts to changing deadlines and nature of assignments
        Shows initiative in seeking solutions to problems
        Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
        Extensive knowledge of TEKS, ELPS, and CCRS at all levels
        Strong knowledge of research-based instructional practices and pedagogy
        Knowledge of differentiated instruction practices, specifically when integrating instructional technology within core classrooms
        Ability to collaborate with administrators, campus personnel, and support staff
        Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including skills of consensus building, listening, oral communication, mediation, organization, time management, fiscal responsibility, and working in a team setting toward shared goals
        Ability to provide support to campuses in all areas with regard to instructional technology, instructional materials, and library/media services
        Experience building staff/professional development to meet targeted needs as determined by data analysis
        Demonstrated proficiency in the delivery of staff/professional development and the facilitation of adult learning

      Experience:
        At least five (3) years of classroom teaching/instructional experience
        Powerful professional learning leader for teachers and administrators
        Strong portfolio evidencing leadership in district and/or campus-wide initiatives
        Preferred experience implementing instructional technology initiatives at the campus and/or district level
        Preferred experience teaching in or providing support in CTE pathway, Advanced Academics



      Major Responsibilities and Duties:
        Initiate and sustains partnerships with higher education entities, business and community agencies
        Build enthusiasm and collaboration throughout the district and community about school redesign & innovative choice programming
        Lead and participates in redesigning student-centered learning environments using instructional technology
        Use leadership coaching skills to develop team members
        Manage budgets judiciously and proficiently
        Use a variety of technology tools for enhancing communication and learning
        Provide oversight and support for school library and media services programs and budgeting district-wide and in collaboration with campus administration
        Supervise and manage the budgeting, ordering, and purchasing of district-wide instructional materials adoptions as mandated by the Texas Education Agency and State Board of Education
        Create systems that allow students to maintain Project -Based Learning portfolios as they produce original works and products, which may be stored digitally, to evidence growth in each and all grades attended.
        Implement the district’s Strategic Design’s specific objectives.
        Provide district leadership and oversight of all curriculum development and design that is integrated with instructional technology practices based on the most current research in order to accomplish curricular goals that positively impact instructional delivery
        Use digital technologies effectively to administer assessments, report results, and provide flexible and real-time access to tests, data, and reports as needed by campuses when applicable
        Research innovative practices inside and outside of educational settings prior to making recommendations and taking action.



      Professional Duties and Obligations:
        Follow the direction established by the superintendent and Board of Trustees.
        Adhere to district procedures, guidelines, and policies.
        Prepare, maintain, and present all information, reports, and records as required.
        Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.
        Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.
        Meet task completion deadlines established by the supervisor.
        Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communications, i.e., e-mail, written, and verbal.
        Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned

      Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
        Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals
        Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional standing, walking, climbing, crouching, bending, stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting, lifting-lower 1-15 lbs.
        Motion: Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Sensory ability needs-significant; hearing, near vision, peripheral vision color distinction, depth perception
        Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
        Environment: Frequent district-wide and state-wide travel; frequent prolonged and irregular hours, Physical Exposure: frequent cold and heat
        Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; Supervise and evaluate the performance of departmental staff; ability to communicate (verbal and written); ability to instruct; maintain emotional control under stress.
