1. Role and Scope of Position:
This position provides outreach and communications planning and execution support for strategic projects residing in the Enterprise Energy Strategy and Business Development Group. Such support will be provided for a variety of energy initiatives including, but not necessarily limited to: offshore wind projects, electric vehicle and energy storage projects, and solar energy projects/program.
This position will be responsible for leading all planning efforts associated with outreach and communication activities to support such projects/initiatives, and for working with team members to complete and efficiently/successfully execute such plans. The role includes leading any necessary and appropriate coordination efforts, both internal to Eversource and external to the Eversource (e.g., consultants and/or partners where initiatives are supported by a joint venture). This role includes direct collaboration with team members, including Project Managers, Directors, and external counterparts to help identify project/program outreach needs, establish goals and objectives, and to develop recommendations that can be built into executable outreach plans. This role requires an ability to effectively communicate with multiple internal and external stakeholders, to support and facilitate ongoing collaboration amongst team members, to adapt plans and activities in a very dynamic environment, and to monitor and report on the progress and effectiveness of plan execution.
This position will support relevant initiatives throughout New England and New York.Essential Functions:
- Communicates timely and effective outreach with government agencies, state and municipal leaders, the public, and other relevant stakeholders, working closely with regulatory and governmental affairs and media relations colleagues to maintain a favorable corporate image.
- This position manages outreach for key communities impacted by strategic projects to ensure the company is best positioned to accomplish its outreach goals and support advancement of such projects through development.
- Serves as liaison for Corporate Relations & Corporate Communications ensuring all communications are effectively and timely conveyed.
- Addresses local concerns through active participation in civic organizations (i.e. chambers of commerce, economic development boards, community groups and public safety agencies).
- Establishes and maintains liaison with elected and appointed officials. Coordinate and lead meetings with key stakeholders as needed to provide project plan updates.
- Ensure all field personnel understand the high sensitivity of strategic projects, the need to communicate a positive, responsible image as a cooperative community partner, and a credible company concerned about the customers.
- Maintains relationships with local governments, community and business leaders within assigned area to position Eversource as an active, visible and reliable corporate presence in the region.
- Promotes a positive Company image through the establishment of an effective information system.
- Serve as the primary point of contact (24/7) for any municipal concerns with strategic projects.
- Conceive and implement plans and strategies; make effective presentations; build partnerships with diverse interest groups and communicate effectively with all organizational levels as well as to external organizations.
- Represent our company with all constituents, leaders and communities impacted by strategic projects, developing and nurturing timely two-way communication to expedite issue identification and resolution.
- Evaluates state and local government policy changes, elections, city and town ordinances, board and council activities and serve as liaison with Eversource colleagues to ensure timely awareness and participation.
- Provide strategic guidance to internal business partners on state and local political activities.
Technical Knowledge/Skill/Education/Licenses/Certifications:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or equivalent in combined education and experience.
Experience:
- Minimum of ten years of experience or equivalent in communications, community and public relations or public affairs management. Involvement with non-profit organizations and issues helpful.
Working Conditions:
- Must be available to work emergency storm assignment as required.
- Must be available to travel between MA/CT/NH as necessary.
