Summary Description

This position will lead the development and implementation of the strategic framework for Sustainability within the company and its grower partners. As the internal subject matter expert, you will lead all Sustainability initiatives and related tasks across the company and its subsidiaries. This is a blend of hands-on and strategic work to meet the company’s sustainability objectives and create a key differentiation to a variety of stakeholders, including customers and the communities we grow in. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop a long-term, multi-year strategy for the sustainability program
• Work cross-functionally to ensure appropriate actions are taken for a variety of different sustainability certifications (Zero Waste, SCS, BeBetter, etc)
• Develop green programs and educate the company, subsidiaries, and growers to meet sustainability targets
• Evaluate different certification entities to ensure the company is aligned with the best option for current and future needs
• Leads the internal Green Team committee
• Support Sales and Marketing with information and resources to effectively communicate the program and meet KPI’s
• Monitor sustainability program metrics and seek ways to improve based on the data, and seek innovative solutions in different aspects of the business
• Stay well-informed and up-to-day of trends and innovations in the sustainability realm and their impacts
• Manages the sustainability requirements of supplier contracts from customers
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications Required

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Ecology, or related field.
• 10 years’ experience in environmental sustainability
• Advanced knowledge of sustainability programs, best practices, and certifications
• Knowledge of process improvement processes and techniques
• Skill in strategic thinking in order to develop and meet long-term objectives
• Analytical/problem-solving skills to turn into actionable items
• Ability to take technical information and make it understandable by different audiences
• Ability to anticipate future developments and align organizational goals and objectives
• Willingness to roll up your sleeves and get your hands dirty
• Team player mentality 
• Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual/Biliterate in English and Spanish
