    Job Title: Director of Financial Operations.
    FLSA Classification:
    Exempt.

    Administration.
    Compensation:
    $105,000 - $ 125,000.
    Reports to:
    Executive Director.

    Summary:
    The Director of Financial Operations is a member of CHT's leadership team responsible for business and operational planning. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Director of Financial Operations formulates and implements policies, practices, and plans to meet the organization’s short- and long-term business objectives. Provides leadership, direction, and day-to-day management of key functions including finance, accounting, auditing, budgeting, internal controls, and general financial operations. Provides input on a broad range of strategic, operational, and financial issues. Ensures the financial well-being of the organization, monitoring and managing to a sustainable business plan, managing organizational risk, and supporting the Board, Executive Committee, Finance Committee, Audit Committees and Executive Director to ensure legal compliance and appropriate reporting to oversight entities on the organization’s operations.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
    • Ensure that the investment portfolio is administered consistent with the Board- approved investment/endowment policy; monitor investment/endowment policies and conduct periodic reviews of investment and endowment fund managers.
    • Work closely with business partners to help make investment prioritizations trade-off decisions. Ensuring to align financial policies and procedures with company objectives.
    • Develop and execute strategies that ensure continuous improvement of finance processes and systems.
    • Provide strong financial oversight practices, internal knowledge management practices, and control systems, including for banking, investments, expense reimbursement, administration, program funding, risk management and annual financial audits, tax returns and various corporate filings.
    • Implement/Develop department-level budgeting and financial reporting to support a program team implementing direct services and disbursing grants to qualified 501(3) organizations.
    • Utilize a strong accounting background and knowledge of Generally Approved Accounting Principles (GAAP) to develop policies and procedures to receive, track and report on the use of a variety of donors’ funds, including government and foundation grants and major donor contributions, and both restricted and unrestricted funds. With the development of individual grant budgets using cost allocation for multi-year grants.
    • Develop systems of accounting and financial reporting to the Finance Committee, Executive Committee, Audit Committee, Board of Directors, and Executive Director. Conduct Form 5500 pension plan review.  Coordinate annual audit and tax return and all applicable corporate filings.
    • Work with insurance providers (Workers Compensation, Fire, Liability, Auto, D&O, etc.), monitoring coverage and risk to ensure adequate and current coverage.
    • Participate in the selection and administration of employee benefit- (health, life, vision, dental, and retirement) programs.
    • Participate in bid out, vet, and select of consultant services, negotiate vendor service agreements, and monitor day to day contractor and vendor performance to assure full compliance with standards established within the service agreement.
    • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports as requested by the board, executive- finance- audit committees, management, foundations, donors, and government agencies.
    • Work with development and program to ensure grant compliance and correct balances to the monthly program budget to actual reports. And that expenditures are consistently aligned with grant objectives, milestones, and program budget.
    • Attend and participate in assigned team and staff meetings and activities, including Board of Directors, Executive-Finance- Audit Committees meetings and special events.
    • Goal oriented highly motivated and able to work in a cross- functional environment at detailed level while taking account of independencies at higher levels.
    • Ability to support and drive business prioritization for short, medium, and long-term planning horizons, then translate into work plan. Monitor & measure project/program progress and adjust as needed.
    • Develop and maintain standards of excellence for staff productivity and team culture that help motivate and retain staff, with an emphasis on exemplary customer service, teamwork, and adherence to the organization’s mission and vision.
    • Represent the organization to peer nonprofits, funders, public agencies, and the community.
    • Complete other tasks and duties as assigned in support of the Community Health Trust’s mission.

    Supervisory Responsibilities:
    • The Director of Financial Operations leads and supervises a staff team of up to 3 employees, reports directly to the Executive Director, and works closely with Board and Committee Members. 

    Knowledge, Skills and Experience:
    • Bachelor’s or Graduate degree with a Business Administration, Accounting or Finance concentration, MBA Preferred.
    • 5-10 years senior leadership position in accounting or finance, including 2-3 years in investments and IT management.
    • Significant experience in or knowledge of nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting.
    • Strong leadership skills and the ability to work well independently or within a team environment.
    • Excellent analytical writing/communication skills.
    • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills.
    • Demonstrated time management skills and problem-solving skills, as well as ability to manage multiple deadline-driven projects simultaneously.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Computer experience in Microsoft Office, donor database systems, Electronic Medical Records; and familiarity with SAGE non-profit accounting preferred.
    • Naturally friendly, punctual, professional self- starter who enjoys being part of a team that thrives on helping others to achieve good health and quality of life.

    Work Environment:
    • Approximately 80% of the time performing job duties is spent indoors, within a standard office or clinic environment.
    • Approximately 30%-50% of the time is spent on the computer.
    • Approximately 50%-70% of the time is spent interacting with colleagues and members of the community.
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • The temperature of the work environment is moderate, and ranges from 65 - 80 degrees.

    Travel Requirements:
    • This job requires occasional local travel (10 -30%).
