The Technical Director is responsible for overseeing the preparation of events before shipment and serves as crew chief during setup, show run, and event strike. The Technical Director also manages the de-prep process, ensuring the return of all equipment and reporting any damages to the appropriate Department Manager and/or Warehouse Manager.
Collaborating with the Project Manager, the Technical Director works on determining the required equipment to ensure each event is equipped with the necessary resources for success. They work closely with each Department Manager to create and update pull sheets for events. In instances where substitutions are necessary, the Technical Director prioritizes utilizing company inventory or suggests the best subrental equipment based on application and cost.
The Technical Director is responsible for distributing Show Advance information to the crew and venue, incorporating details about the event, floorplan, equipment list, and crew information. As needed, they lead department-based production meetings to ensure clear and thorough understanding of expectations. The Technical Director will manage the daily check-in/out sheet for the crew, communicating any changes to the Producer promptly. Additionally, the Technical Director is prepared to step in and fill various roles as needed from show to show.
