    Description

    The Quality Manager position is the key driver for assuring factory procedures, quality standards, and leading the Knowles Quality Management System. (QMS).  This person will lead continuous improvement and optimization of all quality related plant processes.  A successful candidate will have the knowledge, skills, and demonstrated ability to develop processes that maximize safety, quality, cost, delivery, resources and productivity.  Our culture desires the encouragement of the use of new techniques and fact-based problem solving.



    Key Responsibilities

    • Maintain company quality standards and ensure compliance with customer requirements.
    • Control department expenses and assist in developing annual business plan.
    • Provide the workforce with a clear sense of direction and focus.
    • Responsible for selecting, training, motivating and developing plant staff. 
    • Collect and analyze data to identify and remove waste and error proof processes.
    • Direct compliance with organization standards
    • Manage plant relationship with sales force so that a direct link to customer feedback, suggestions and requests are maintained.
    • Maintain working relationship with peers within the Company
    • Responsible for quality testing and analysis lab
    • Lead and support SQE and incoming inspection process 
    • Oversee all levels of plant compliance, including documentation. 
    • Determining, negotiating and finalizing in-house quality procedures, standards and specifications
    • Assessing customer requirements and ensuring that these are met
    • Specifying plant specific quality requirements of raw materials with suppliers
    • Ensuring that manufacturing processes comply with standards at both national and international level.
    • Working with operating staff to establish procedures, standards, systems and procedures.
    • Writing management and technical reports and customers’ charters
    • Performs other duties as assigned.


    Skills Knowledge and Expertise

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent and/or 10  plus years progressive work experience in a similar field, preferably within Defense or Aerospace industries
    • Working knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, AS9100  and other industry standards 
    • Working knowledge of pFMEA, dFMEA, PPAP, SPC, etc.
    • Working knowledge of Federal and State Safety and Environmental Regulations.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Working knowledge of formal structured problem-solving techniques
    • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies, Six Sigma Certification preferred
    • Working knowledge of corrective action management and reporting
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and ability to learn other job-related programs and software.
    • Excellent Interpersonal skills.
    • Detail oriented individual able to independently, multi-task and prioritize work.

    One element in our total compensation package is base pay.  The starting base pay for this role is targeted to be between $90,000 to $140,000. 

    Individual compensation decisions are based on a number of factors, including but not limited to previous experience and skills acquired prior to joining Knowles, cost of living in the assigned work location, assigned schedule, and salaries of similarly situated peers at the company.  It is to be expected that candidates will come to us with different sets of skills and experiences and therefore will be paid at different points in the stated range.  We recognize that the person(s) we select for hire may be less experienced or more experienced than the role as posted; if this is the case, any updates to available salary ranges will be communicated with candidates during the recruitment process.
