The HSET Administrator (HSEA) goal is to ensure on-site UIC Municipal Services (UICMS) and North Slope Borough (NSB) Water & Sewer (W&S) personnel follow the site-specific UICMS/NSB W&S Health and Safety Plan (HSP), Accident Prevention Plan (APP), UICMS’s and NSB’s safety protocols for both environmental and construction services, promote a Safety First Culture to minimize the potential for safety incidents and injuries, develop and implement Task Hazard Analyses (THAs) for each task and phase of the project (also known as JHA or AHA), conduct regular on-site toolbox safety meetings that will include safety concerns or new tasks that need to be addressed, ensure all training and Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) exposure monitoring and medical surveillance are current, and complete all required paperwork as outlined in the Work Plan, HSP, and APP.
This position is for a specific project that is scheduled to occur in a remote location in Alaska involving all facets of the NSB village wide W&S Operations. The applicant must be familiar with remote Alaska limitations, able to work in inclement weather, and able to lift at least 50 pounds. The workweek will be based from Anchorage office and in the field present within the village W&S Operations 25% of the time with a minimum 12 site visits per year. Village travel will consist of 10-hour days seven days a week with housing and per diem provided when on slope and normal 40-hour work week while station in the Anchorage office. An on call emergency basis will require travel to the villages within 24 hours of notification is mandatory to perform safety investigations and other safety related events that will require the HSEA Administrator presence. The applicant must work in the presence of customers and their representatives and be able to maintain a professional and courteous image.
The HSET Administrator will be the key for assuring a safe work environment during the implementation of field activities, company policies, and associated preparatory activities. The role includes overseeing field activities performed by company and subcontractor personal, interpreting safety regulations and implementing this knowledge on-site to minimize and avoid accidents.
