    Director of Institutional Assessment

    Job Summary
    The Director of Assessment provides leadership, coordination and technical expertise for program evaluation, student learning and program outcomes assessment. The Director works with faculty and staff to identify and implement appropriate assessment methods in ways that generate meaningful assessment information leading to improved student learning and program outcomes.

    Essential Job Duties
    1. Plans, organizes, and coordinates strategic assessment programs, projects, and activities campus wide.
    2. Provides professional leadership of the assessment process by communicating the purposes of student outcomes assessment, assisting departments and colleges in the development and delineation of assessment plans, assisting in the selection of appropriate measures and methods for assessing student learning outcomes, and analyzing and communicating the results of assessments conducted.
    3. Supports continuous academic program assessment (curricular and cocurricular activities) and improvement of student learning through consultation, mentoring and hands-on training.
    4. Promotes internal and external communication of assessment results. 5. Supports the ongoing development and implementation of comprehensive outcomes assessment programs for all academic units and supports the goals of the universitys strategic plan.
    6. Interprets assessment findings and prepares an annual assessment report to summarize such findings, with particular emphasis on the quality of the assessment efforts and findings that influence institutional decision-making and policy development.
    7. Records, stores, manages, and disseminates confidential and sensitive assessment data, as appropriate.
    8. Design resources and conduct workshops for faculty and staff on the topics of effective course and program assessment and continuous improvement practices.
    9. Other related duties as assigned,

    Qualifications (Education, Experience and Specialized Training)
    • Master’s degree or higher in field related to position required.
    • Strong skills in qualitative and quantitative research and experience in statistical reporting
    • Strong writing, interpersonal, and computer skills with the ability to summarize and present complex analysis of assessment data to varied audiences and constituents.
    • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in higher education including demonstrated experience in assessment projects, collecting, and sharing data on student learning and program outcomes.
    • Ability to work effectively, and professionally and provide consensus building with faculty, staff, and administrators.

    • Ability to analyze complex assessment data and present results in a clear, useful format.
    • Creativity, initiative, persistence and ability to work independently, attend to multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
    • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
    • Excellent problem-solving abilities.
