SCOPE OF THE POSITION:
Responsible for selling different parts. Assesses needs of customers, takes orders, finds products, and checks out customers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Handle high volume telephone contact with customers to determine appropriate product based on application and pricing.
- Assist and supply walk-in and phone customer requested parts and place orders with suppliers.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
- General computer knowledge both main frame and PC.
- Strong commitment to customer service.
- Knowledge of basic mathematics.
- Basic mechanical or parts knowledge.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Identifying complex problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Ability to learn and retain a large amount of information and/or know where to find it.
- The ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing.
- The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented through spoken words and sentences.
Language Ability:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, percent, and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to calmly deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Education:
High school diploma or equivalent education and/or experience.
Experience:
Automotive knowledge and/or experience is a plus
Work Environment:
The Parts Department Salesperson will work full-time in the parts department with a majority of the workday spent sitting at a desk and interacting with customers on the phone and in-person.
