    Job Summary:
    The successful technical seller is a confident self-starter who enjoys the challenge of finding ways to help customers improve their manufacturing processes. He or she makes sales calls in various industries to establish business relationships with customers who use spray painting equipment or pump/application equipment for adhesives, sealants, ink, chemicals, lubricants, food and sanitary products, and other liquids. A good mechanical aptitude and self-reliance are necessary, along with a healthy curiosity, a willingness to work hard, and “get your hands dirty” occasionally to demonstrate and troubleshoot equipment.

    Responsibilities:
    • Must travel regularly (depending on home office location) to maintain and expand the customer base for designated product lines in the given non-exclusive sales territory.
    • Set goals and objectives, and make planned, regular sales and development calls to key areas throughout the territory to familiarize existing and potential customers with FDF’s distributed products, systems, and applications.
    • Coordinate and cooperate with factory representatives for designated FDF-distributed product lines in making sales calls or other activities related to the product line.
    • Coordinate with other technical sellers to exchange information and identify opportunities to expand product sales.
    • Attend sales meetings and appropriate training meetings as scheduled. Extensive training and related travel are required during the first six to twelve months.
    • Submit a weekly call planner every Monday morning and weekly expense report/sales call report: Customer names, companies, and key information to be kept in the customer contact database regularly.
    • Maintain a home office and communicate promptly and effectively with customers and appropriate support people. 

    Qualifications:
    • Sales experience or ability to learn sales skills necessary to communicate with customers in a way that effectively describes FDF capabilities and value to the customer.
    • Mechanical aptitude and ability to learn and understand FDF products and applications.
    • Ability to work as a team member with Customer Service and other personnel.
    • Mathematical ability to calculate pricing, including discounts, and percentages, and determine gross profit margins and other cost considerations.
    • Ability to learn and use computers and relevant software, including Excel, Word & Outlook.
    • Fluency in written and oral English. Ability to read parts manuals and blueprints, and to communicate technical information. Ability to prepare accurate proposals and quotations.
    • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Ability to effectively demonstrate equipment we sell.
    • At times, must be able to work in an environment with possible paint and solvent odors present.
