To be a Trader (Options) typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience. Gains exposure to some of the complex tasks within the job function.     Job Summary

    The Information and Options Counseling Manager will be responsible for actively listening, answering questions, and providing information and referrals to community resources. By providing older adults and family caregivers with information about community resources, you will promote well-being and the ability to remain safely at home with independence.

    Essential Job Functions

    • Display a current and thorough knowledge of Alamance ElderCare programs and community resources, long term services and supports.
    • Using professional judgement, serve as an advocate for older adults and caregivers providing information, referral, Options Counseling, and assistance services using the ElderCare Client Referral Tool.
    • Listen to expressed preferences, values, and needs; discuss options based on needs and preferences.
    • Provide support to individuals to make informed choices by connecting those to services and following up with them.
    • Use person-centered practices to provide decision-support so individuals can make informed decisions about appropriate long-term services and support systems.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment to enhance the Alamance ElderCare team effectiveness.
    • Assist with occasional organization program promotion.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree in gerontology, social work, public policy, communications, or a closely related field.
    • 3 years’ experience in aging and long-term care.
    • 3 years’ experience as an Options Counselor.
    • Options Counselor certification or the ability to become certified within 6 months of hire date.

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Master’s degree in gerontology, social work, public policy, communications, marketing, or a closely related field.
    • 5 years’ experience in aging and long-term care.
    • 5 years’ experience as an Options Counselor.
    • Bi-lingual.

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Thorough knowledge of older adult needs and of family caregiver responsibilities, stresses, issues, and needs.
    • Knowledge/familiarity with the NC Aging Resource Management System (ARMS).
    • Knowledge of programs, services, and techniques that are effective support approaches to caregivers of the elderly and disabled.
    • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
    • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
    • Great multi-tasking skills.
    • Strategic thinker.
    • Attention to detail.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $46,000.00 - $54,000.00 per year
