    Summary

    Under the supervision of the Minnie Street and Newport Mesa Family Resource Center (FRC) Program Supervisors, the Community Engagement Facilitator will have the responsibility of coordinating the work of the Community Engagement Advisory Committee (CEAC) and Youth Action Council (YAC), who volunteer their time at both Newport Mesa and Minnie Street Family Resource Centers. The Community Engagement Facilitator oversees the recruitment, organization, and leads the CEAC and YAC members by facilitating meetings, events, and training to work collaboratively to support MSFRC and NMFRC. Additionally, the Community Engagement Facilitator takes part in facilitating the Personal Empowerment Program in the Family Resource Centers to provide survivors of domestic violence with the education and empowerment to decrease and/or prevent abuse in intimate relationships.  This position will work from the Minnie Street and the Newport Mesa FRCs.

     

     

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Responsible for the advocacy for the expansion of the FRC CEAC and YAC programs and activities focusing on issues that affect the health, well-being, and public safety of residents in the FRC community.
    • Oversee community events, coordinate an annual needs assessment, volunteer recruitment (including residents, agencies, and local businesses in the community) and training, problem solving, and developing and implementing an FRC action plan.
    • Attend all required meetings and trainings, administer FaCT-approved measurement tools, and enter the results into the FaCT database.
    • Coordinate and facilitate the monthly CEAC and YAC meetings, volunteer events, trainings, and organize FRC family events.
    • Facilitate program evaluations and completing Needs Assessments.
    • Participate in community committees that provide networking opportunities, as well as develop and enhance community collaborations.
    • Perform administrative duties including, but not limited to creating informational letters, forms, and flyers related to programs, maintains and updates CEAC and YAC individual profile files, performs front office coverage, including answering phones and welcoming visitors and clients.
    • Support the development of prevention and education promotional strategies for a variety of outreach and engagement events, including:Domestic Violence Awareness Month,Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month,Child Abuse Awareness,Blue Ribbon month,Elder Abuse Awareness, and other local and nationally recognized campaigns.
    • Facilitates a minimum of eight (8) 10-week cycles of Personal Empowerment Programs (PEP) at the FRCs per fiscal year.

    Qualifications


     

    • Option One (1): An associate degree or sixty (60) college units in human services or related field from an accredited college/university;
      • One (1) year of leadership/supervisory experience,
      • Experience providing direct services with community members and/or youth populations.
    • Option Two (2): Three (3) years of experience
      • Two (2) years providing direct services with community members and/or youth populations.
      • One (1) year of leadership/supervisory experience.
    • One (1) year experience facilitating groups and leading workshops.
    • Proficiency in English is required. Bilingual English and Spanish (written and oral) required.
    • Strong in the areas of oral and written communication, and positive interpersonal relationship skills.
    • Knowledge of current domestic violence, child abuse, and elder abuse issues.
    • Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, Office 365, PowerPoint, and Canva as well as internet research; Comfort in computer network environment
    • Satisfactorily complete post-hiring 40-hour Domestic Violence Advocate certification training.
