JOB DESCRIPTION

Position Title: Laborer, Class B

Position Summary: This is a non-skilled position assisting in the maintenance of water and sewer systems, streets facilities and vehicles.

Supervision Received: Laborer, Class B works under the immediate supervision of the Borough Crew, Water or Sewer Crew Foreman. Receives close to moderate supervision, depending on experience and complexity of the task. Expected to perform routine assignments independently following standard practice.

Supervision Exercised: Works primarily under the supervision of the Foreman, but on occasion could be assigned helpers whom he/she will supervise.

Typical Duties: The following describes the most significant duties of the position but does not exclude other assigned tasks.

• Engages in a wide variety of tasks such as assisting in the maintenance and repair of water mains and services, sewer mains and services; cleaning storm drains and culverts; repairing streets; grounds and buildings maintenance
• Operates hand and power tools
• Perform flagging for crews
• Performs other duties as required by designated supervisors

Minimum Qualifications: Laborer, Class B shall meet the following minimum qualifications:

• High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED).
• Possess a valid Pa. Driver’s license
• Some work experience performing manual labor in construction work
• Ability to work weekends and holidays, be on call and respond to calls during non-working hours.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.68 - $20.09 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
