Traffic Clerk, Sr. provides administrative and clerical support to the traffic operations function of an organization. Responsible for all aspects of routing, shipping, logging, and tracking of inbound and outbound orders. Being a Traffic Clerk, Sr. contacts transporters for freight pick-up and ensures that cargo is routed appropriately. Communicates changes to routing and timelines. Additionally, Traffic Clerk, Sr. prepares and processes bills of lading (BOL) and other shipping documentation. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. Ulster County Department of Health seeks a full-time (35 hrs./wk.) Clerk for a grant funded WIC Program. Provisional appointment pending Civil Service Examination and being reachable for permanent appointment from the resulting eligible list. Starting rate $17.92/hr. The work involves responsibility for the performance of routine clerical tasks. The work is carried out in accordance with established procedures and involves entry level office duties which provide support to the function of a municipal department or agency. The class differs from that of Senior Clerk in that Clerk is the entry level of the clerical series whereas Senior Clerk is the second level having greater responsibility. Depending on assignment, work is performed under the general or direct supervision of a higher level employee. Detailed instructions are given for new or difficult assignments. Supervision of others is not normally a responsibility of the class. Does related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Successful completion of the eighth grade in school; or its equivalent.
Special Requirement for appointment to Ulster County positions: Upon a conditional employment offer and in accordance with Ulster County Legislative Local Law Number 14 of 2007 or by other State and Federal Statutes, prospective candidates for employment to all Ulster County positions must obtain clearance for appointment from the Department of Criminal Justice System or other mandated Federal and State regulatory authorities. Such prospective candidates will be required to be fingerprinted accordingly.
