Traffic Director leads and directs the traffic department to efficiently and safely move materials and products to designated destinations. Develops and maintains transportation and distribution procedures to maximize delivery efficiency and minimize delivery costs. Being a Traffic Director evaluates and selects appropriate transportation carriers and routes. Resolves delivery issues for both internal and external customers. Additionally, Traffic Director monitors, analyzes, and reviews loss and damage claims and makes recommendations for improved safety. Oversees costs and processes to adhere to budgets. Ensures compliance with all DOT/OSHA guidelines. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. The Traffic Director typically manages through subordinate managers and professionals in larger groups of moderate complexity. Provides input to strategic decisions that affect the functional area of responsibility. May give input into developing the budget. To be a Traffic Director typically requires 3+ years of managerial experience. Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments. As a Traffic Engineering Project Leader, you will work with clients across Shive-Hattery’s multitude of sectors from public infrastructure, large institutions, expanding industries, and commercial development. Your leadership will be crucial to the implementation of traffic solutions such as roundabouts, traffic signals, raised crosswalks and numerous other safety improvements. Further, planning and traffic studies will guide the path forward for numerous public clients along with shaping development plans for private commercial and industry partners.
You can expect to work with a team of traffic and transportation engineers providing guidance, project leadership, project management, and leading interactions with our clients. Along with the team you will serve numerous municipal and State clients across all Shive-Hattery’s geographic footprint. Additionally, you will provide valuable input on Shive-Hattery projects from new schools, healthcare expansions, campus level walkability studies, and numerous other projects where traffic expertise and solutions are needed.
